I want to get a 32 gig micro SC card, but the Sandisk ones are horrendously expensive. $200 retail, $150 on ebay.

There's a seller on ebay selling a no-name 32gb card for a mere $50, but I'm obviously wary. He's in Hong Kong (like a lot of memory sellers) with a 98.4% rating on over 2300 transactions, and apparently he's sold (at time of post) 279 of these cards, but in all his feedback, I can't find a single one that's for one of these cards.

I know you get what you pay for, but often with these sort of things the name brands and the no-name ones are made in the same factories, if not totally identical.

Has anyone had any experience with no-name flash memory, positive or negative?

Usually you'll get small card (like 4Gb) with hacked partition table. Computer of camera will see 32Gb of space, but you can't put more than 4Gb on it.

Newegg has a lot of them for less than 100 bucks, though not as low as $49.
However, there's also reviews for most cards from people that bought them & used them.

Thanks, but those are for the full sized SD cards, not the Micro ones.

Didn't know that could be done, but that makes sense. Since yesterday there's a seller on ebay selling a bunch of 32gb micro SD cards, and looking at his feedback, it looks like they're fake.

I'll probably just stick with getting a 16gb card (or 2) since the 32gb cards are so damn expensive. Thanks for the input everybody.

I've bought unbranded flash memory from Microcenter for 4 years: CF cards, SD cards, and USB flash drives. Everything has worked fine. I have a 16GB SDHC card which I use for photos and movies in my Canon A570 IS, and my wife uses one in her Canon SD770 IS. If we were doing professional work with professional equipment, we would probably buy something better, but this works for us.

Checking Microcenter's web site, they have a 32GB card for $59.99.

Their stores do not put unbranded flash memory on the shelves, just ask the cashiers for it.

I've gotten some of those and they do work, but the speeds are abysmal. If you want something with decent performance, like burst photography or moving around large files, go with something a little better. If it's just for occasional use, then they work great.

bwahahahaha....

sorry, but it doesn't seem all that long ago when a 512Mb compact flash card was upwards of US$500.

personally, i rekon spend a bit extra and get a quality card.

Again, that's a regular SC card, not microSD.

Yeah, 10 years ago my computer had an 8 gig harddrive. Now you can get 4X that in something as big as a fingernail.
