Notice I didn't say no new sharp objects!!! It's just gotten to the point of being ridiculous the size of the collection, and needing to focus on other hobbies to push myself further along. Please provide any input you have or advice.

1. I want a great axe, and learn more bushcrafting. Gransfors are my goal, any advice would be appreciated if other competition to keep an eye on.

2. Wazoo stone, I have no idea why besides just wanting to feel like a Viking. I have a great Worksharp field, but all the cool kids have a Wazoo 😁

3. Heavys, over earphones, I listen strictly to metal, hardest of the hard, so I want something better than the Raycons for quality.

4. Carving tools, maybe a cheat with no new knives but real carving tools for whittling, making spoons or bowls, ECT.... The Flexcut look nice, and gloves because I don't want to bleed out.

Putting this out into the universe to try to make it a reality. I've made it 14 days into 2025 staying strong, so we'll see!

I have to agree that Fiskars completely nailed the geometry on their axes. They just work and are surprisingly durable. That said, if you want something more traditional and made in the USA then look up Council Tool. They're also pretty affordable. Here's some links to a BF member's site: he sells lots of great knives and tools in addition to Council Tool axes.

Great to know! I've seen some issues with the heads coming loose, maybe they have improved. The price is definitely better vs Gransfors, and I like how they are USA made.

Hmm, I've never heard that but I don't keep up with the world of axes as much; I imagine every head will eventually loosen up over time. Fortunately, re-hafting a head is not difficult and can be a fun, accessible project for a hobbyist.

In fact, if you really want to start up a new hobby you could peruse antique shops, estate sales, ebay, etc. to find vintage heads in good condition for cheap and learn to affix your own handles. Could save you some money, give you something to tinker with, and result in owning a fine chopping tool. It really depends how far down the rabbit hole you want to go.

I have no advice. None. I just wanted to tell you: This. Is. Awesome. My newest discovery is Slaughter To Prevail. Seen them open for Marilyn Manson and FFDP and I gotta say I really enjoyed them.
Terry man we gotta hang! I had no idea you got down! 😁. That tour looked great, Manson finally came out with a banger after the last few albums stunk bad. FFDP is consistently great, and Slaughter to Prevail is insane, dude bashes his face in and fights bears!

Favorite band over last few years is Orbit Culture. The Nordic countries never slowed their metal down, or put emo screeching in.

Hell yeah! 🤘 I’ll check out Orbit Culture! Always on the lookout for something new to listen to. I assume you like Amon Amarth then too ?

Ok. Just briefly checked out Orbit Culture. Wow! Love love love it!

Well, listening to Amon Amarth always nudges me into looking for viking axes. 😬
Just had a quick peek at Orbit Culture - very very nice, they remind me a bit of God Dethroned.

I'm following this thread as I also think an axe or a hatchet are in this year's budget...

edit: Beavercraft carving tools from Ukraine have quite a good reputation and are very affordable. Not sure if you can get them over the pond...

Thanks man!!! I'll keep an eye on Beavercraft for sure. What axe have you been looking at?

I don't play that game. Only you (or maybe your accountant) can set a limit on your collection size, and I even hate to do that because of the possibility of leading to dissatisfaction with the hobby. If I saw something I really wanted to buy I should be free to buy it, and deal with size of the collection later. It is also OK to focus on other hobbies sometimes, then come back to your knife hobby when you want to.

3. If you’re looking for really enjoyable “cans” for metal, get ye some Skullcandy Crushers. They’ll thump your head good and have badass sound quality for kicking out metal jams.🤘

Also, does Terry M. Terry M. get down…. Look at the guy! Looking like Odin himself.

OK, I promised an update and here we go. I got one for you. I stayed strong and have not bought any new knives this year so far but because of the tariffs and the items I’ve been looking at I did purchase an advance for the rest of what I was planning on getting this year. I may need to split update in multiple posts.

First, the headphones did not work out the brand I was looking at said heavy metal would sound great and actually it sounded like dog water so instead, I ended up with the quietcomfort from Bose very happy with the sound and EQ is great! Battery life is on par and connectivity has no lag at all.

The Wazoo pendent and spark is fantastic and I now carry it most days as functional jewelry. I don’t ever wear necklaces, so this is a big change for me, but the leather is such high-quality and it carries beyond lightweight that I don’t feel it and it just goes under my shirt. Good knowing I have it and adds to my edc system.

Also kind of a flyer purchase but ended up getting a manta sleep mask and I’m in love. This thing has helped me get much better sleep and it’s beyond comfortable. .

Got a RMSC for the hellcat. It came with a Crimson Trace and wanted an upgrade having a direct fit and didn’t have to remove the optic to change the battery. Vortex Defender CCW fit my price and must have features. Dot is only large in the pic because of camera focus.

Last the axe!!! Surprised and blown away by the Gransfors Scandinavian Forest Axe. No use yet however it is smaller and lighter than I expected it to be. It looks beyond capable for what I intended use wise and then some time will tell if the price justifies purchase but it’s a luxury item. I wanted to see if the hype was warranted.

Overall, I’m actually really glad I made the resolution that I did to direct my spending into certain hobbies that I’ve been neglecting. It’s not that I don’t have a list started for next year, but for this year I caught up on some and it feels great!!
