A gunmaker friend was moving and I was helping him to clean out some of the unbelievable stuff he had. He was going to throw this away so I grabbed it.

It is Marked:

Luther Grinder Mfg. Co.
Hummer No. 271
Model G.
Milwaukee U.S.

Works pretty well and it runs on alternative fuels. :D

I have a similar one , it's been sitting outside covered with a tarp .But of course mine has a stone !! I have no use for it .It's perfect when you have a power failure .

You Lucky ,Lucky Dog !!

Man that is too cool.

What's the gear ratio like on one of those Don?

Very high gear. Just a very slow pedal gives you a moderate speed about right for sharpening. A little more pedal (about like cruising the boardwalk) makes it smoke!

The stones that are on it are too coarse. I may try to find some extra fine or one fine and make another one from wood that I can coat with polishing compound.

You should see the vise I got. It's a swivel jaw mill vise and I have never seen one this big. It weighs 150 Lbs. easy. the jaws open to 14 inches.
It's soaking in Kero now.

I also got a 36 inch barrel vise that allows me to change pressure points for straightening as well as work like dovetail cutting.

Also got a stockmakers router jig. It's like a 36" table with jaws that lets me route the barrel channel in a stock.

Also picked up the biggest squirrel cage fan I've ever seen. That's going in over my grinding table.

so much for natural gas for power the seat has holes in it

Maybe that's what the fans for! :footinmou :barf:
