Hey guys, its been a while since I posted a nice simple sheath. This one is made out of that leather I got recently that is dyed through and through, no white core! Its expensive but I like the idea. :) The surface isn't the clearest I've ever seen, a few marks here and there, but its so nice not to have to worry about dinging up your sheath and showing light leather through.

This is the first of a series of sheaths I'll be doing for the GSO's. So far I have the 4.1, 5, 5.1, 6, 7/7 and the little necker. Looking forward to getting a 3 and 10 in house eventually.

Opinions please, I'm thinking of making the production versions of these with a flat throat instead of the fitted one. Good idea or bad?

I don't have the experience to comment on your production idea, but I like that leather. I've only bought veg leather regular and with black on both sides, I haven't seen it dyed through. Can it be stamped and carved like regular veg tanned? The stuff I have can't unless you plan on re-dyeing it black and even then, it doesn't work well.

I've never been a fan of keeper straps that go around the knife handle and snap, but I really think your design is different. I can't know for sure without trying it myself, but I really like your work. Clearly it's well thought out and if I had to guess, I'd say your work is an evolution over a long period of time. Well done. :)

Let me tell ya, when that through dyed leather was first brought fourth it, for lack of a better word, sucked. :p I gave an honest opinion as I am sure a few other pro's did and a few months later I saw this. Way better, but for the range marks, for this price it better darn well be clean. Its not just yet, but I am confident that it will be. Those fellas down south listen, much better than you'd think. So far it cuts and carves wonderfully, no show through like some others. Its just those range marks that bother me to no end. Spending 3 to 4 bucks a square foot more for it, I want it clean dagnabbit!

On the around the handle strap, yea, that is a revelation I had a few years ago. It pulls out of the way when drawing and inserting the knife, no way it can be cut. Problem of the handle strap, SOLVED! Now much copied, not as much as my X loop but real darn close. You should have seen the faces of the outdoors people when they saw it, priceless. One especially razzed it till he saw it in person "never thought of that!!!" :D Complexity through simplicity, one of my old mentors in art. It still sticks with me today.
