No one builds Multi-tools for knife people!

I've tried quite a few multi-tools. I like my Paratool, but I'm still not happy.

NOBODY builds multi-tools for knife people! There are so many companies that make an entire line-up of multi-tools. Sometimes the M.T.s in the line-up vary greatly between models. (SOG, Leatherman) Sometimes they are just barely different. (Victorinox)

I would think that BY NOW someone would have thought to create MY perfect multi-tool as part of their line-up.

I want a multi-tool WITHOUT a knife. I want maybe an extra tool or two instead of the knife(s). You know why? Of COURSE you know why if you're on this forum.

So WHY, with the close competition and (moderate) creativeness has nobody done this? Why?

Wwwwhhhhyyyyyyyyyy???????!!!!!!!!  :grumpy: :(  :( :grumpy:

I agree, but it would never happen - doesn't make business sense.

What would be cool is if you could make the Gerber by choosing individual components, not modules, then you could omit the knife (like old muscle cars used to have a "radio delete" option - who needs tunes when you're hammering a hemi!)

Not really an answer, but...

The SOG PowerLock allows you to remove, add or rearrange your tool selection as you see fit. Extra tools are available from their 800 number according to Ron@SOG.
Gerber has a build-your-own site for their tool. I believe BuzzBait built one to suit him.
Hope this helps.

Hmmm. Interesting what you said about SOG. I'll definately look into that. That would be the ultimate. I may even write Ron.

I can't imagine a better multi-tool than a SOG locking tool with all tools and no blade. I'm gunna go for it! If it works out, I'll post a review in the appropriate forum section.

As far as the Gerber BYO site, like RH said, they make you pick basic modules that always include blades. The site doesn't let you build one without a blade.

I have a SOG PowerLock, and I can say that it IS an EXCELLENT multi-tool that you can set-up the way you want it (as long as you leave room for the plier-head to fold in.). Another excellent one to take a look at is the SOG (Deluxe) Pocket PowerPlier, as it is somewhat smaller and lighter than the PowerLock, and you can still change the tools to fit your needs...(I have installed scissors in mine.).

I have a cheap knifeless multi-tool that came free with a first aid kit I bought at Walmart. I think the reason it had no knife was more due to PC than being made for someone who already carries a knife.

I use a Gerber with a removable saw blade.

I have the older SOG Power Pliers. No lock on it like the new ones so I'm not crazy about it. Although with its "compound leverage" feature, I can crack hazelnuts and pecans open easily. Hey it's X-mas time when I look forward to hazelnuts and pecans!

Anyone out there have a Spyderwrench? How are they?
