i posted before about my post counts and no one seemed like it was even worth while answering me--i just made a post again that would have put me at 2000 posts but what do you think happened the same old bullshit put me back to 1200 posts like before--this means alot to me but as i have seen in the past--you don't seem to give a dam

Hard tellin'. They may be swamped and I believe all the guys were/are at Shot Show. It may be that they are lookin' into the problem.

No offense, but your posts shouldn't matter that much, more so being how your rep is around the forums

it's not that the posts really matter that much--it's just that no one gives a dam--a no answer in my opinion is like a hell with you

Spark is at SHOT right now. I don't have a clue why that's happening to you and I doubt he has any idea either. Don't know why it's happening or what to do about it.

Maybe the Net Demons hate you. We could try throwing a virgin into the volcano, but virgins are hard to come by these days....

I've lost hundreds of posts in various gliches over the years.

I hate to sound callous, but it happens. Like it or not, Microsoft is involved, so the blue screen of death, or the lost of post counts, sometimes happens.

Moderators can not adjust post counts. I don't think supers can. And I doubt the site admin can either. The forum software calculates it automatically based on its database. If there's been a glitch in the database and some of your posts were lost, then your count will be affected. That's what happened to me in the big database glitch a few years ago. I lost about 800.

Sometimes, moderators delete redundant posts and double posts. That causes your count to go down. Merging threads can if there are redundant posts elliminated at the same time. But splitting threads can make you more.

Bottom line: I don't think your post count is coming back. Sorry, but unless Spark has some magic wand (and sometimes he does), I'm not aware of a knob to adjust that.

It's not that nobody cares. It's just that nobody knows how to fix it. We would if we could. Sorry.

virgins are hard to come by these days....

Especially with all these suicide bombers taking up 40 a piece. :D

There's a 13-year lead time on virgins, you know. And we've been having a lot of quality control issues lately; from production-start to finished-goods, the yield is low.

it's just whenever my posts get to 1999 and i post again it goes to 1200--like i said before the posts don't really matter--just i see everyone else post count climb higher and higher with no problems--and i posted this problem before and it was deamed i didn't even deserve a answer--that is what pisses me off

I'm sorry. You're right. Someone should have answered you.

Spark can look into the problem. But it's a strange problem. As far as I know, you're the only one so afflicted.

Keep in mind that Spark didn't write this software. He doesn't have the source code. So, he may not be able to find the problem.

Has that happened to anyone else? I know all the old-timers have lost post count for the reasons Gollnick went into above, but what's happening to Yiterp is different.

I don't think anybody was ignoring you earlier -- nobody knew what to say.

Maybe if some other people have noticed the same thing happening that could help us find some kind of pattern to it ... somehow ...

Yiterp and I are friends (kinda) :D.

I saw the post too and did not know what to say. (Guess I was hoping Spark would see it and jump in.)

One thing though It would not matter if you had 1 or 100k, We are glad you are here.

Nothing us peons can really do. We need to give these shot show folks a break for a day or two. I am sure they are exhausted.

Nothing really I can do about it. It's really not a big deal to me and if I redid all the post counts, I'd be eating up processor cycles just so someone has bragging rights?

Quality, not Quantity should be the motto folks.

Yiterp,
Don't sweat it. Those who know you know you & like you.
Those who don't aren't worth trying to impress anyway. ;)
I've lost a boatload of posts myself as Gollnick said.
I know it's not a fix to your problem, but it looks like 'one of those things' I guess...
cheers,
Mike
