I've lost hundreds of posts in various gliches over the years.
I hate to sound callous, but it happens. Like it or not, Microsoft is involved, so the blue screen of death, or the lost of post counts, sometimes happens.
Moderators can not adjust post counts. I don't think supers can. And I doubt the site admin can either. The forum software calculates it automatically based on its database. If there's been a glitch in the database and some of your posts were lost, then your count will be affected. That's what happened to me in the big database glitch a few years ago. I lost about 800.
Sometimes, moderators delete redundant posts and double posts. That causes your count to go down. Merging threads can if there are redundant posts elliminated at the same time. But splitting threads can make you more.
Bottom line: I don't think your post count is coming back. Sorry, but unless Spark has some magic wand (and sometimes he does), I'm not aware of a knob to adjust that.
It's not that nobody cares. It's just that nobody knows how to fix it. We would if we could. Sorry.
