I have possessed a gerber warrant "tactical" knife for approximately 1.5 years. In that 18 months it has proved to be the single most underrated cheap fixed blade I have come into contact with.
Blade
The blade length is advertised as being 4.5 inches but is well below this due to the choil. The steel is Cr7 Mov17 which is well below a supersteel. It's performance is below 1095, and well below 440c but still very capable. The heat treat on the steel has been masterfully done and the blade punches well above its weight. In the long period I have had it in I have carved feather sticks with it and used it for cutting rope and other assorted rubbish such as plastic. It has also been thrown at a fair few trees:D. In this time the only sharpening it has received has been on a 600 grit sheet of sand paper and a leather strop. After a few swipes the tanto-hollow grind has always been restored to shaving sharp. It's edge retention is not brilliant, but as an edc steel it is good, it is probably the smae as SAK steel, not too hard but not too soft, after a week it will need to be touched up. The ergos are really good and it will carve a fairly decent feather stick without too much effort. The jimping on the back of the blade is a bit aggressive for my likes but the choil really aides control. The nitrate coating on the blade is rubbish. It tends to deteriorate into black spots that are like rust, I strapped it to my leg and went spear fishing in the ocean and when I took it out of the sheath afterwards it was really rusted, not the blade but the coating. it also rubs off pretty easily.
Handle
The handles are pressed or cast aluminium that has been anodized black. They feel comfortable and work well with the knife.
Sheath
MOLLE compatible, printed camouflage. It looks really mall ninja so it really appeals to me. It has a solid snap on it and is quite slim line. I lime it but many don't.
Over all, not an amazing knife, if it had decent steel on it I would recommend it to anyone. As a starter for the young bloke or a mate who isn't all that knife savvy it's not bad. I give it 3/5. Easily beat, but unlike some knives this blade is not pretentious, it feels like it just wants to give you more. Apologies fro no photos I still can't get that working. It is also dirt cheap. I bought it for 50$ au which is about 30 Us and yo could get it for about 20 online.
I know it ain't a great review but now I feel like I have contributed to the community:D
