No pics, but used my VTAC to dispatch a copperhead.

I was out until 11:00 pm working on house rennovations trying to get ready to move in. When pulling to the edge of the subdivision to go home to where we're living now, I saw a very large snake sliding into the grassy area of our subdivision. Now we have lots and lots of little kids, including mine, that wander around the neighborhood playing all day. I jumped out of my truck and ran over just to check out what kind of snake it was. I don't typically kill snakes just for the heck of it but this was a huge copperhead, the biggest one I've ever seen. Anyway, I ran back to my truck to look for something with which to dispatch the snake. I couldn't fire my gun as that would wake everyone up. The only appropriate tool I had on hand was my Lagana Tactical so I grabbed it and ran back over to the snake. As I approached, it turned and came toward me in the road! Now, my experience with copperheads is that they usually hold still when you approach, which typically means you stand more of a chance of stepping on it as they camo real well. It must have known my intent by my body language because I moved aside and the damned thing headed towards me again. I very carefully used a stick in one hand and my Lagana in the other to pin and swing at him. One shot one kill. The hawk cleaved right through and left a nice bite in the pavement. I must admit that I was wishing it had a longer handle, but I made do. My Lagana has been used for many a tree and brush, but this was it's first blood! ;)

That's a cool tale.
Thanks

How's the edge after hitting the asphalt?

Anyone have pics of the Lagana?

Good job!...So, how about a picture of the copperhead snakeskin boots, belt, or wallet, at-least?.:D.

BTW...It's great to read that the pavement didn't damage the edge of the VTAC...It goes to show just how GOOD that steel is.

I seriously considered throwing the snake in the back of my pick-up but it was 11:00 pm and the renovations are keeping me pretty busy so I just didn't want to mess with it. Of course, in the morning I changed my mind and drove by the house on the way to paying job but it looked like everyone going to work had played flatten the snake with their car. Wasn't really too much left to salvage... :barf:

Someone should send a VTAC to that Croc Hunter guy and make his show more interesting. "Crikey, I just split that croc's skull wiiiide open!"

Some years ago, a customer dispatched a water moccasin with his RR Spike and sent me an image of his handiwork...enjoy the pic!
