My father passed away on this day in 2008, and I later that year made my first pilgrimage to Blade, a little later that same year saw an idol fall off its pedestal and become human. Watched as a friend lost all he had, and another lose all dignity. A Grandmother in Law lose her battle with Alzheimers, and her husband lose his battle with himself. Watched helplessly a few years later as a friend lost the battle with ALS and had to leave three kids and a wife behind to pick up the pieces.

Tomorrow I watch as another good friend is sent onward to another path after a long bout with Alzheimers. A big man in so many ways, former athlete and veteran of the Air Force, coach, and community leader. Please think about his family tomorrow as they say goodbye to Mr. Bill as my daughter called him for many years. I will miss him very much. Goodbye my friend. :(

Thanks for listening my friends, its a difficult time of year made more difficult now.

...I'm with you. Getting older means seeing all these people go.... Not for the faint of heart, getting old is.....

God bless.

Rough stuff friend, sorry you've had to experience all that so close together, here's a poem that's on a sun dial at Wells College that I've always liked;

The shadow by my finger cast
Divides the future from the past:
Before it sleeps the unborn hour
In darkness and beyond thy power:
Behind its unreturning line,
The vanished hour no longer thine:
One hour alone is in thy hands,--
The NOW on which the shadow stands.

Prayers for you brother!

prayers sent to all.

Thanks Everyone, its good to hear from friends when your down. :)

Agreed with Noxious, age is not for the weak of heart. "I'm too young to be this damn old" I've aged 10 in the last 6 and it shows.

Prayers sent. I guess the only thing worse than losing those important people in your life is if you never had the chance to know them.
