No PM's for unpaid accounts...

I just wanted to say that I think that it would be great to allow all user's to participate in PM'ing. Over on TheGearPage.net (it's for guitars but they have an enormous market share for forum based selling of expensive instruments and gear, very similar to the forum here but a different niche) you can just PM people as needed and it really makes buying and selling much easier. The experience here and not being able to PM someone on here just seems overly restrictive and I'm sure it's limiting sales for paid users who are selling. Over on TGP you can pay if you want to sell but you can PM and buy at will. I've never had any issues with spam if that's a concern. Is this something the mods would ever consider? Is it about that extra carrot of enticing someone to pay for membership so they can PM other users?

Yes. Communication is still entirely possible without a paid membership but it is not as convenient, the basic $10 membership is an appealing and dirt cheap solution to all those inconveniences and it directly keeps the site open for all those people who don’t pay for memberships; win-win all around.
