No replicas to BK&T?

Good knives and best sellers are usually followed by replicas. I have seen knockoffs of izulas, hest folders, trailmasters, sebenzas, some ka-bars, etc. Although the beckers meet the criteria to become targets of counterfeiting, I am yet to see a replica out there. The closest to a replica I have seen is the Condor Rodan (compare to BK2) but I'm not even sure it qualifies as a knockoff. Why are there no replicas to the Becker line? Why are they immune? If you see one, please share the link.

In the FAQ there is actually a few examples of some counterfeit Beckers that have shown up here and there.

Beckers are so awesome that no one dares to try to copy them.

But, there are some copy Beckers out there, watch out for them, and don't buy them.

Didn't we also decide that Böker made something eerily similar to a Becker?

I don't recall how similar it was, but I do remember seeing one around here that had the becker handle for sure. It was while I was lurking, so I didn't comment at the time.

Turns out, it was semi-legit (like old camillus grivory they bought out or something like that).

I'm sure someone will be in here to fix the story on this one, but I just wanted to throw it out there.

Yeah that's the one I meant.

There are counterfeits out there, but replicas? No. Mostly because the handle is trademarked and can't be copied without encuring a lawsuit. After that, blade shapes can be copied, but its not the blades that make the BKT knives, BKT knives, its the handles.

So is Boker still putting this one out?

the BK6 was a pretty blatant attempt, and seemingly has been shut down quick. finally got to see it at the Gathering. it's no patrol machete. the handles are not even right, but they put Ethan's face on the box, and that was a super no no :)

i'm sure there's a chinese company we haven't run across cranking out local copies, but they tend to go after bigger fish ($$$$) and make fake stuff that can move. they've even gone sophisticated and sell such high quality duplicates, that you have to buy the real thing to notice, and they price them better so you THINK you're buying something real. you'd not be fooled at $50 to buy something worth $500 (extrema ratio knives come to mind).

karma baby, karma. for 100 lifetimes these copycats will still be working in factories cranking out shit :>

I was thinking more along the lines of mass production of counterfeits. The counterfeits of the trailmaster, izula and hest are relativeley easy to find and are abundant online, which leads me to think that they are mass-produced or that there are a large number of factories producing them. If counterfeiters go for high turnover items, the beckers seem like a perfect target. So I am guessing that it is the lack of markup what keeps them at bay with the BK line?

My other theory can be expressed in the form of a question: Are Ka-Bar and Ethan really that much of a pain in the a** that the chinese are scared to deal with them?
I can see why... picturing Ethan without a shirt, with his face painted, swinging a machax running after the chinnese.
But seriously, are Ka-Bar and Ethan that much on top of chasing off counterfeits?

Becker's are so inexpensive anyways that people that find them appealing may just go for the real deal. I don't think they're nearly as well known as some of the more commonly counterfeited designs like the Ka-bar designs that you see getting knocked off. Profit margin might not be there.

He was doing that last time he stayed at my house! :D

except in that case, it was July, 130 dF, it wasn't face paint, but hot sauce and grease, and someone rang off with his chinese spareribs and dundun noodles; nobody touches that man's food :>

why he woke up in the bushes is another matter :D

Ha, that's the one I didn't think peope would think, how stoopid am I?

:D
BTW- theyre more like ()() on her
