FOUR_DOLLAR_BREAD_KNIFE_PAPER.jpg

The cheapie Chinese bread knives are in vases on the windowsill.
I just touched up the middle plain one a bit.
All one piece of paper - I like paper sculpting when I`m bored.
Quite thin and sharp too - What do you want for four dollars haha ?
The tall wood one is a 20 inch Sabatier carbon for big steers and at least my flowers don`t need watering.

I totally agree lads but no room at the inn - tiny kitch - so major compromises were inevitable.
Even the knife box is a bit chocka.

CHOCKA-WALL-RACK.jpg

Some knives are non-magnetic or much too heavy and I have a wall-rack with five cleavers on it but it`s full !
I`ve got very little bench space, drawer and cupboard space in the room.
I have chucked loads of implements away and given loads of knives and scissors away and there`s still not enough room anywhere.
Basically I need to extend the kitchen but that option is out at the moment.

How many cats do you have?

I`ve got no dogs or cats but I have lots of wild squirrels, badgers, hedgehogs, foxes, rats, mice and birds in the garden.
I can`t have pets because of severe disability but I`d love cats and dogs again.

Sorry to hear that. But at least my biggest worry about picture number one has been alleviated!

All my knives are blade down or in knife rolls and thick felt pouches and the kids are in their forties in Bordeaux- I am very safety conscious - I work to feed the homeless in town.
In the top piccy - all the knives are jammed in so they don`t fall out even when the vases tip over.

You have to admit, that first picture IS a bit cringe-worthy. Hell, it's a LOT cringe-worthy! One sneeze...

Must be nice to know that you've got a knife for every day of the year.

Take heart: you can always serve as a bad example.

If you have an interest in hanging some of your heavier knives, I have a bunch of magnets that were originally from computer disk drives. I promise that the concept of "too heavy" will never enter your mind. I once hung a VW from the garage ceiling using one. It was a Bug, not one of the newer ones. Hmmm, I may have made that up, but if you have an interest, let me know.

Have you thought about bumping up your membership level and passing some of these along in the exchange? It can be liberating to pare things down a bit.

I totally agree David - I collected far too many but I must totally stop because there is no room anywhere.
I don`t need anymore knives or scissors or razors - period
I`m in North West England and I give scissors and knives away to help poor people cook and mend clothes etc.
To be honest David most of my knives and sharpies are junk and not worth a carrot !

Thank you for the reply and kind offer Aardvark - I only have a 3-bed terrace house and I am trying my best to declutter - honestly.
I give away loads of stereos, tellys, puters, books, tools, music etc - basically I over-collected and am trying to consolidate things.
I filled up my friends car with archeology , history and Egyptology books a few months back and I give loads of new clothes and shoes to charities - I`m trying harder haha !
I used to be worse when I was younger - I had 7000 records, cassettes, DVD`s and records - now I have 3 raid0 and raid1 , raid6, plus online / offline linux redhat servers plus JBOD`s and 30-40 SSD`s and NVME`s for two workstations and a business desktop - I think it`s over 170 TB total storage but that`s over 20 years worth so not too bad.
Do you want a laugh - I have too much storage plugged in my ASUS ROG laptop downstairs - plus it`s been on 24/7 for 5 years and the CPU and GPU fans are begging for mercy haha !

17 drives and 17 TB + plugged in a gaming laptop since 2019 is not ideal.
My desktop is a bit busy but nowhere near as bad as years ago.
Sorry I digress - I do apologise folks !

DESKTOP_-_28-06-2024.jpg

I could probably put 20 odd drives in it but that would kill the poor little thing.
The 3 main desktop triple-boot Linux / Windows / Android touch for PC workstations / biz PC are upstairs thank goodness.

This is handy and the nested proxies, browser in a sandbox and script-blockers help - I love rooted tough-phones too !

Do you know what Aardvark, I know people worse than me so I`m consoled knowing that I can chuck stuff now and again and not constantly hoard.I grew out of OCD when I was twelve because it was taking over.

It depends what your definition of madness is - I`ve known psychiatrists that were mad as a box of frogs - much crazier than me - It`s all about balance and perspective and a pragmatic attitude IMHO.
Tonight me and the missus fed about 400 poor souls - so I`m goin bed happier.
Thank god the van has a strengthened floor now - could do with a 7.5 ton one now but times are hard haha !

Your Vee-dub brings back happy memories - a tiny hippy camper with no proper flushing toilet in it - labour of love.
Had a 1955 Morris Minor 1000 - original spec - 43 hp - 70 mph max downhill with a wind behind it.
So...obviously I breathed on it a bit - 4 litre small block chevy - supercharger (so no turbo lag) and 15 i/ps NOX - painted in matt grey primer - it made a Porsche 911 look like a milk-float - sub ten standing quarters and 0-150mph in 11.5 secs - it strained a Dyno but nowhere near as bad as a stage two rally WRC mini with a Howlet 1.6 in it - ( 600hp - half a ton - 11 foot long ) that did 115 max but could do 0-60 in less than 2 secs but was very noisy, illegal and scary - and fun ! power to weight innit ?
I love cars that behave like motorcycles - not normal cars - like TVR`s - Ferrari eating sleepers lol
