I'm just curious about why, unlike the Buck forum, there is no "selling" allowed, but only trades. I'm not a regular here on this forum, but there are times I'd be interested in buying some traditional knives, not just Bucks. I'm sure there are others interested in selling some.

I've gone to the exchange, but it seems to be dominated by tactical stuff which I have no interest in at all, and it's just too much effort to wade through all of it to see if there's anything I'm interested in.

I'm not being critical, I'm sure there must be a reason. I'd just like to understand what the reason is.

There is no prohibition against selling traditional folders - is that what you mean? Or do you just mean that there aren't many folks who are selling traditional folders?

I don't think there is a prohibition on selling...you just use PM or email to talk about those kinds of things off of the forum. I imagine lots of sales deals are made offline.

I think he means why the swapmeet section only allows trading, not selling & that Buck knives have its own F/S section in the "Sale by Indivisuals".

I understand the swapmeet trading only, but would have to agree that a slip-joint only section in the F/S Forum might be a good idea.

I've never seen any offered for sale, but I'll admit I rarely go there anymore.

I did read the following in the forum guidelines and it appears to say no selling, trades only.

"Also, please keep all offers of trades and exchanges (slipjoints only) to the "Slipjoint Swap Meet" thread at the top of the page. (No cash or sales; straight trades/exchanges only.)
(You must list a knife for trade/exchange as well as post what knife or knives you seek in return. This thread is not intended as a "Knives Wanted" classified section.)

When you send a PM or email to another member regarding a potential trade do not post that you have done so in the thread as it just makes wading through the entries that much more cumbersome.
(Accordingly, please ensure that you have your email and/or PM's enabled to facilitate contact from interested parties.)

Please limit use of the "slipjoint swap meet" thread to posting your knife for trade as well as describing the slipjoint you seek in exchange and to update (edit the original post) when the knife is no longer available. Do not conduct a running dialog within the thread . Keep all discussion to email and/or PM. Feedback from any trades or exchanges should be posted in the appropriate forum.

All other knives or items that you wish to offer for sale or trade should be directed to the proper area of bladeforums.com (ie the exchange sections of the website)."

The Slipjoint Swap Meet is a thread in the Traditional forum. Buck Knives For Sale is a separate forum in the Exchange section. Like all sales forum, it will not allow a thread started by a Registered User or Basic member. It is not a thread on the Buck forum itself.

We will not allow sales within a non-Exchange forum. The administrative burden would be excessive.

If you want a Traditional knives for sale forum, you can ask in Service & Support, but understand it requires the sales volume to justify it.

Esav answered the question clearly. In future, please address all administrative type questions directly to the moderators rather than posting within the forum (as requested in the guidelines).

Thank you for your cooperation.

(Traditional knives are offered for sale both in the Custom Knives For Sale (Individual) and Production Knives For Sale (Individual) as well as "maker" and "dealer" listings on this site.)

The reason behind this is so the discussion forums will be just that - discussion. If we allow sales in the discussion forums, guess what will happen? :D
