Anyone use anything like no slip handles?
I've used suretouch ultrex
But read bout neoprene ones from Texas knife supply.
Ideas?

The Kershaw blur has inserts that are like grip tape for a skateboards so maybe something like that.

Coarse texture G10.

It feels similar to 100 grit sandpaper. Very grippy. It can be a little uncomfortable at first if someone has soft hands, but ones hands can get used to it very quickly with no further discomfort.

Although I like "rubber" handles, such "soft" material isn't always the best choice for every knife. If I want the best grip possible with a "hard" and highly durable material, I use coarse texture G10. It's also available in a less aggressive medium texture. And it's available in a few different colors.

Where can i find krayton knife handle scales

It's spelled Kraton. And other than on existing knives, you can't find it. At least I've never been able to find a source for aftermarket Kraton scales or raw Kraton slabs to make scales out of, and I've looked.

Kraton is a proprietary product of the Kraton corporation, and to my knowledge they only sell under manufacturing contracts. They are a BIG commercial/industrial company and they don't piece the stuff out little by little. If someone wanted to buy Kraton they'd have to go through the whole corporate process and buy enough to make it worth their while.

Bummer,,thanks for information

Have never worked with Kraton, so I wouldn't know the process of possibly melting it down and dying it to make slabs from, but I found this from a company called Talas.. but I still like Micarta the best.

Look into Suretouch. It's layers of g10 and rubber, pretty damn comfortable and has a nice bit of grip.

natural materials:stag, rams horn, checkered/carved wood, checkered/carved/scratted horn, jigged/carved/scratted bone, leather washers (Ontario 499 Jet Pilot Survival Knife, Ka-Bar, Western "L" series, etc.), checkered/embossed/and not smooth cast metal.
Man-made/synthetics: saw cut delrin, staglon. unpolished micarta and g10.

I've always wanted to ask this...

If the Suretouch is a light color combo, like something having grey or tan in it, how does it clean-up? Does it stain to the point that the original color will never return?

*I saw a beautiful knife that had a grey'ish combo, but held-off from buying it because I was afraid the rubber part would never look like it did (*out of the box) once I used it.

I do not claim to be the world's foremost expert on Suretouch. In fact I've only handled it once for about a week long during a passaround that David Mary did. It was his Prevail model and he outfitted this one with the green g10 Suretouch. So I don't have a definitive answer as to how it holds up over time, however if you break it down it's just g10 and rubber, that's it. The black rubber won't stain and it's pretty thin and hard so I feel pretty dang confident in it holding up with hard use. As far as the g10 goes, it's built like a tank and pretty much impervious to chemicals and what not. Light colored g10, like white and tan, can stain a bit yes. Usually it cleans up pretty good in my experience with jade g10 though. If I were you I'd get a darker color on the g10. The stuffs pretty awesome though. If I were a big hunter I'd have a knife made using the stuff.

If it's a fixed blade and you don't care about looks, you could always go biker inner tube over the handle to help get traction. Cheap fix and easy to remove.

I made some rescue knives with suretouch handles before I kayaked a portion of the Mississippi last year. One of the guys I started with finished the entire river with one of my knives. I emailed back and forth with the company who makes it about longevity and uv exposure. they didn't have hard data on either subject but the expectation is that it will wear well and stand up to long term use in the sun.
I made them with an Anso pattern to enhance the grip and have been very happy with the results.
