I have one of those, I tried a no spin throw the other day and I can say, it didn't spin... as it shot back at my face.

What's that handle?

Yeah, this photo was taken the same day I got bitten by this knife. I wasn't really throwing it, just juggling it and caught it wrong.

Handle: Some carefully molded strips of safety orange duct tape wrapped around the original CS handle (minus a broken screw - although after nearly a month they finally did replace the screw). The bare butt of the tang was left sticking out because when I started taping it was just to keep the handle plates from falling off. Then I decided to practice making it fit my hand nicely. It tore apart after two sessions, but it was fun.

I took the handles off of mine. I got a nasty sliver after I missed the first time. But after that the thing sounded like a church bell when it bounced so I wrapped some electrical tape around it. It helped, but I think I'm going to switch to a cord wrapped handle. They really should make the handles out of rubber or something else impact resistant if they really need to have them there.

I cord wrap all of my throwing knives. It is durable and stops the ringing when you miss.

I've heard that the ringing suggests something about the temper of the steel. I can't really qualify that, though.

What I HAVE observed is that with the ringing sound comes significantly more engery retained in the bounceback of the knife. If you don't have some kind of handle on this knife, be very mindful of this. This one can stick you in the face.
