Accidentally stumbled onto this blade on-line. There's a YouTube video where the maker discusses the design and CRKT collaboration - pretty neat little blade with a street price of around $17. Looks like the type of knife a lot of folks here would be interested in.

CRKT has been turning out some cool little knives like the Krein Dogfish or the Ritter PSK. They've been offered at reasonable prices too.

I'll pass on that one. Finger grooves aren't my thing and on that knife they almost have more of a tactical (tacticool) look.

CRKT always has interesting pieces at good prices. I'm not always impressed with the durability or materials used, however. Just my 2 cents, YMMV.

I am not too big on that one... I'd probably rather put that money towards an Izula or a BK11 if I wanted a blade like that.

I have one and like it quite a bit -- it's really easy to slip into a jacket pocket and forget about until I need it. I love pointy wharncliffes, and the handle allows for a very comfortable, secure grip.

The only issue I have is that the steel CRKT used for it is really soft and doesn't hold an edge worth beans. It's okay for light usage like opening envelopes or cutting loose threads, or tape, but not for anything tough. Someday I'll try to get one of the original Alan Folts customs to address that.

It's also not really a wilderness/bush design... great for discrete carry of a small fixed blade in an urban setting, but in the woods? Not so much.

same here... for some reason i don't like that design...

any benefits over other types of blade???

I love my Minimalist, I basically never take it off...

If it looks nifty to you, by all meens get it, the quality is very nice, especially for the price.
Micarta, kydex and steel that will take a razor edge is pretty good for <20 bucks.

Rupestris, the finger grooves are very functional on this design.
You have to keep in mind how small it is...I think the knife would be a complete failure without them.

I just bought one. The steel is adequate, equivalent I think to AUS6 or 440A. It gets it done as a backup blade. I am going to run a test of edge retention against my Camillus Demo knife and SAK Farmer, see if it is comparable, which I am guessing that it is.

I kinda like the design. I wish the handle was a little beefier and the steel was better. CRKT has some good designs I just wish they used better materials.

I like the Bowie version of the Minimalist. (The Minimalist comes in Bowie, Tanto and Wharncliffe.) Might pick one up. Sharpening doesn't bother me, though a bit harder steel would be nice.

I don't know why but I have never liked CRKT. I have many friends who own their stuff and I never have so you could say it is prejudice. However, the Razel series and this don't look bad at all

I have owed the Minimalist for some time now, but I have been patiently waiting for AG to get the tanto in stock, 1 more week.

Great little knife, but seldom carried.

I do wish they would have drilled a hole straight through so it would be easy to change the cord too.

I'm liking the wharncliff version. i hope the handle is comfortable.

I have had the wharncliff model since around xmas.
Its a sweet little blade I made a cobra knot lanyard for it and hung it up in my truck on the rear view mirror. Easy to reach and get out in a hurry if I ever need it. Plus it gets all kinds of attention from passengers with me.
The grip with the handles is amazing. Fits my hand perfectly. Like the poster said above if it didn't have the finger grooves it wouldn't function properly.
All this knife lacks in high-end steel is made up for with
sweet design, micarta handle, kydex sheath.
Remember this is a small knife so large cutting jobs will be far and in between with this little guy. I doubt the original makers POU intended it to do so.

I've had one for about a year now. Nice little knife, but I didn't care for the blade steel. Gave it to my grandson. So I bought the Folts original which uses (think) cpm154cm. Much much better. I carry it in in my truck (discretely behind the visor) as a general purpose little knife.
