I was looking at the new Blackbird on Knifeoutlet.com, cause the Emerson site is down. It looks nice with G10, but no wave? WTF? Come on guys, say it ain't so!

The "Blackbird" is basically a "Raven" with Ti liners and G10 scales. It will replace the Raven in the EKI lineup and the Raven will be retired, at least for now.

And you are correct, the Blackbird doesn't have a wave.

Noooooooooooooooooo, this is not cool. It is a sweet knife, but without the Wave, it is just another flightless bird.

Thanks John,

Not sure I get the point of the Blackbird, then. The kydron scales were one of the best things about the Ravens IMO, and they already had Ti liners. Is it just that G10 is more upscale or something?

Many people, myself included really, didn't care for the feel of the Raven. I've always loved the design, just not the Polymer, squishy feel (this coming from a dedicated Glock guy). I always wanted a Raven, but couldn't bring myself to buy one.

The Blackbird is really the best of both worlds. It has the Raven styling, with the solid feel of every other Emerson. Having handled them extensively at the Blade show, I'd put the feel of the Blackbirds grip second only to the Commanders. Open, it's very light and fast in your hand, closed, it seems to disappear, being incredibly light and thin. I can see this design lending itself to "Yarawa" style applications very easily.
