No Wire Hangers..Whap Whap..Waaaah

After reading gud4u's excellent advice on wire hangers..er edges I inspected six of my folders. Yep...all had that nasty wire edge! All fixed now I think. I am going to get that Radio Shack Microscope to make sure though. Is a leather loaded strop useful in removing wire edges as well? Thanks Guys! Great Forum here!

If you've got a Sharpmaker, Jeff Clark's trick of doing a couple very light passes at elevated angle - like 30-40 degrees per side - is about the slickest way I know of to get rid of most wire edges. Seems to leave an extremely even, smooth edge ready for final sharpening. I was worried at first it would dull the blade too much and make for a lot of extra work, but it doesn't.
