Hi all,
One of the unique things about this community is the willingness of many members here to help others in need. In the past few years this community has through the charity that I have managed been able to help a single mother with three kids have a real Xmas for her children and to help her with food, clothing, warm coats etc. The knife community made a major contribution to making someones life better. We restored hope in someones life.
Last year we gave two kids who had no hope of a Xmas and parents who were struggling just to make ends meet a opportunity again to have hope in a time in their lives when there was little hope. When the Milf dropped off a van full of presents, Warm winter clothing, Cleaning supplies, and food for this family all donated by this community again this family knew that there were people in the world who although they had been given a better position in life knew their responsibility to helping those in need....
which brings me to my point for this year..a bit early I know but I bear with me its important.
This year my 14 year old son and I are Traveling to Mexico to live in the slums for a week and build houses for people who have no home and are living in the street or in cardboard shacks. I am doing this for several reasons
1. I feel that my life is in fact ( aside from my griping about small things ) a charmed life and that I have the luxury of buying expensive knives, traveling to Blade, eating in fine restaurants etc. But I also have a tremendous heart for the poor and the hopeless.
2. My 14 year old son like most American teenagers is growing up in the "bubble" of American culture and needs to see that he is living in the upper 5% of society with wealth beyond compare and that he has GOT to see how the other half lives.
3. I also believe that one of my callings in life is to help and defend the poor. I believe that I have a responsibility since I am at the top of the ladder to help those who are without hope.
So over the week of Thanksgiving ( no Turkey for Ren
) Andrew and I will be building houses with Charter Ministries.
Here is where I need your help
Each house cost is $750 ( wooden structure two bedroom, living area and bathroom) I have been charged with raising money to build two homes. The Milf and I are buying one home and My and Andrew's airfare but I was hoping the Noble Bastids would also help and contribute Towards the cost of the SECOND HOME. what could you do for someone who has no place to call home? someone a home?. Can you help..??
To make this kind of fun..I will also throw all your donation names in a hat and one of you guys will get a knife from my stable...a custom Bob Dozier K-12 Whittler
