Egyptian Mythology in Metal – New Scale Design Preview | Noblie Custom Knives

Just wrapped up the artwork for an upcoming Noblie Custom Knives project: a set of titanium scales featuring Anubis and Ra in a unified, narrative-style composition. Ra stands above the pyramid with a skull below, while Anubis holds the scales of judgment — a heart weighed against a feather. Ancient script and solar symbols tie both sides together.

This one was all about storytelling through metalwork — designing the flow and symbolism across both scales as a continuous visual scene.

Final touches still ahead before full assembly, but I’d love to hear what you think so far. Always appreciate thoughts from fellow makers and collectors.

It’s all handmade work. The engraving is done by hand with a graver, and the inlays are made of gold in different colors and silver. The blue and brown colors are achieved through anodizing on titanium.

Second scale of a custom folding knife by Noblie Custom Knives.
All engraving done by hand.

The scene continues on this side with a fully hand-engraved samurai and two ninjas mid-action. Materials used include inlaid gold, silver (for the samurai's sword), and copper details. I always finish my knives with Renaissance Wax to protect against oxidation, fingerprints, and to preserve the original look of the metal over time.

Folding knife with a deep-etched Damasteel blade and hand-engraved handle scales.
We went all-in on this one: full samurai motif with gold and silver inlay, Japanese-style engraving, and high-contrast niello background.
The front scale shows a warrior leaping into combat, the reverse (not pictured here) continues the scene.
