Hey everyone — digging into the archive today. This is an older Noblie Custom Knives piece from a collaboration between our engraver and our scrimshaw artist.
The metalwork is fully hand-cut relief engraving, and the scrimshaw is insanely fine—done under a microscope to push the detail as far as it can go. The handle is mammoth ivory, and the whole scene flows across the knife like one continuous story.
Honestly, I don’t think we’ll ever make another knife at this level again (time, effort, and the kind of focus it takes are just wild).
Curious what you guys think: which part is harder to pull off cleanly—deep relief engraving in steel, or ultra-fine scrimshaw that still reads from a distance?
