Hello Everyone

After almost a year I received my first Nocturnal Knives product, the DMFJ. It is one heavy tank of a knife, coming in at over 21oz.

They only make a handful per year, and with all the grinds you can see it is very time consuming. It also has their Trace Camo finish, mine is a gray urban scheme, which is nice because they include the handle in the finish as well.

It feels nice in hand, but I'll put it through its paces this summer as I spend a week in the woods.

Here is the link to the unboxing video should you be interested. Figured there needed to be something up for them as there isn't much as of yet.

It's def different that's for sure, but I like to see stuff that's different sometimes and try out stuff from new guys

Cool looking knife. Blade shape is definitely interesting. What kind of use is it intended for?

Interesting knife. Lousy packing. Looks like they had some .oz baggies left over from they're last Nocturnal venture. I would shoot them a message on your thoughts of the knife, more importantly they're method of shipping, if they're cool, they will understand and adjust.

Good thing about is, if you're not happy w/ the blade shape, got enough steel there to make any shape you like. You could take 10oz off and still have enough for a cleaver.

Yea I put the video up on their page as well about the packaging. You would figure they would put it in one of the boxes.

Not sure it truly has any real purpose, with the heft I'm sure it will chop and baton well. Sure you could pummel someone with it.

The paint job isn't my style but I think it's neat. Should be fun to play around with. :D

That's what I love about knives, they aren't always practical, but they are ALWAYS fun to play around with!

That has to be the coolest tactical ping-pong paddle I've ever seen!!!

Lol, that means it's truly tacticlol because it can be a spatula, a ping-pong paddle and a putty knife all rolled in to one. Versatile!

You know I never even asked what it stood for

I'm glad the OP is taking it all in good nature. I saw the video when there weren't any post but I wasn't sure if this was some esoteric blade shape that most knife aficionados know and I don't. I was wondering how and what you would cut with it.
