NOe scales

I did finally get a combat grade NOe. Was very cheap so I couldn't resist .
The blade is still in great shape but the scales were modified by the pre owner.
They fit my hand well but they look terrible. :(
I would like to replace them with the original once.
Good chance to give it for a satin finsh too :D
Maybe some of you guys have a set available that you would let go.
Or is it possible to order scales separately. Maybe even rivets.

Thanks

Wicked

I really doubt that you can order scales OR rivets. Plus, you would need the press to set the rivets.

I would suggest getting a very fine set of files to sort of duplicate the diamond quilt pattern or whatever to make them grippy if that's what you want.

I had a user Mean Street that that the micarta was worn smooth on. I had a satin finish put on by a knife maker who also did some file work on the spine and cut some grooves into the micarta.

The grip was improved about 1000% as far as slippage goes. The file work on the spine helped the most. The grooves in the micarta helped, but were kinda ugly and I could have gotten by without them.

easiest way to get a good grip on the knife and give it a quick make over is just have it bead blasted, either that or contact busse and see if something can be worked out to rescale and refinish it

You said it already and I think too that the scales would turn out even more ugly if I do a file job on them.

Riveting would not be a Problem. I could even make the rivets myself.
Its just the sacles which I really need.

Thanks

To return it to Busse is not an option from Germany.:(
I will give the bead blast a try if I don't get original scales.
I also will look into horn scales like this one at the right.
I think a satin finish NOe with horn scale would look pretty cool.
What do you think.

I'm actually pretty happy to have a used one since it is much easier to use as breaking in a new one. Just could be a little nicer

Guess what :D:D
I bought also an unused one as safe queen.

Sorry didn't realize you were that far,As for the stag and satin finish:thumbup:   ,I think it would look great, for pins i'd go with mosaic or loveless style fasteners (think both would be a nice touch on the knife).Which ever way you decide to go with the knife i'd like to see a picture once it's completed:)

Ohhhhh the possibilities! :D I see all sorts of things you could do with that sweet little user! Nice snag bro...be sure to update us what you do with it.

From the pic the micarta looks smooth. I would bead blast the whole thing and see what the micarta looks like then. Some of the variants that have come out of the shop have nice smooth non-textured scales and they look great. This one may just need the micarta cleaned to bring out the patter that looks like grain. Bead blasting will certainly do this.
Give it a try. It will look like a different knife when you're done.

I agree with Paradiggum. I would also beadblast the micarta. Just my 2 cents . . . ;)

I will bead blast it next week when I'm back at work.
This will also remove the remaining coating.
Will post a pic of the outcome.

Thanks for the suggestions

Wicked
