Hi Gents

Just finsihed this blade in time for the UK Knifeshow. The blade is a stainless carbon san mai, the core is EN45 with 431 stainless outer layers. Blade length is 130mm, overall length is 250mm. The blade billet started out at 200 x 11 x 40 and after forging finished up at 330 x 5.5 x 45. The blade has a full flat grind and a tapered tang. The handle is spalted hornbeam with black liners, 1/4" S/S corby bolts, a hand made mosaic pin and S/S thong tube
I wanted something a little different for the sheath for this one. The sheath has a Kydex look, but is made from 3.5mm Spanish shoulder leather, wet moulded and dyed saddle tan. The sheath doesn't have a welt but is stitched and has 8-10 1/4" black Kydex rivets around the edge for a complete ambidextrous carry with a Blade Tech Tek-Lok belt clip.

Thanks for taking the time to look. All comments very welcome.

All the best

Steve

Great looking knife, Steve, but the sheath makes it. EXCELLENT rig!

Thanks for your comments gents. I don't know why it's taken me so long to try this out Matt. I've never been a real lover of Kydex because of how it can bugger up the blade finish on your knife. I picked these longer Kydex rivets up at the Blade show and wanted to try them out with this rig. I wondered if the leather would be up to the task as well, but once it was wet moulded, dyed and sealed it's very rigid and performs superbly. Because there's no welt the sheath really grabs the knife for a really snug and secure grip.
I'm going to use this style of sheath a lot more on my outdoor style blades.

All the best

I made this one for myself to carry when camping / hunting, but she was terribly unfaithfull at the UK Knifeshow on Sunday she didn't seem to care who handled her, but by being so free and easy she did get me an order from a customer. I didn't really mind. ;)

I really like the overall profile of this one. Great looking san mai too! The contrast from core to jacket steel is amazing, especially with the forged finish ricasso. The spalted hornbeam scales really go nicely with it. I also agree that the sheath was a great idea, looks great as well. Thanks for sharing. :)

BTW, I really like your maker's mark too!

Thanks for that Paul, I've got a drop point san mai blade with desert iron wood scales to complete for an order which should be finished soon. When it's complete I'll post some pictures.

All the best

Great job my friend, I love every detail!

The style and texture.... and great choice of materials! The sheath completes the package!

Thanks for that Steve, it's a real shame I never got to see your award winning Bowie at the Bladeshow I would have loved to have handled that bad boy mate.

Cheers
