The Nomad is my take on the classic western idea of an up swept or trailing point Persian style knife. While a Khanjar is probably the knife we are actually thinking of when we are thinking Persian. Kizer did a great job on this knife. They were able to translate my limited 2d CAD drawings into this. Once I got it in my hands, I realized it needed to be a flipper. Kizer is working on that now. I only set it up for tip down carry as I couldn't set a clip up for tip down in a position I liked. If the demand for tip up is there, that is a simple thing to add. As I mentioned before, Kized did an awesome job and made a "sexy" folder. My question to everyone, should I have gone for some anodizing in the recessed areas?

I like the contrast in the handle the way it is. I hope you'll do away with the thumbstuds for the flipper version. They don't look like they belong on that design. Sweet lines on this folder.

Thanks for the good words! :) You are correct, no thumb studs with the flipper. I think the drawing with the flipper turned out quite well. I can't wait to see how Kizer builds it

I think that is a stunning knife! I will definitely be keeping my eyes on its development to production. I'd prefer tip up though... Beautiful design Dirk!

Fantastic design Dirk! I think you're gonna have to look into a tip up option. While I prefer it, I'm not the type who won't buy a knife just because it's tip down. But there are plenty of people out there who are like that.

Thanks for the kind words. I know what you mean about the tip up option. I just haven't come up with a clip design that I like that will work in tip up or tip down. I don't like to something just because. I will come up with something that I can accept.

Thanks again!

Anodizing the grooves in the flats would be a nice touch - anodization can be overdone and tacky if too broadly applied, IMO. Subtle hints of color are key. Purple or gold inside those grooves would look great.

Very sexy knife! Count me as one who'd like tip-up carry too...and a different clip if possible. The clip that's on it looks a little short and wide for the knife. It seems like it interferes with the lines of the knife.

Like Comeuppance said...this knife just begs for some custom ano work!
