Hey guys, I've searched around this forum and found out how to convert the Heat to manual, in case I'd ever need to. But I had one question. Without the A/O spring in the knife, will the blade not stay closed? And if so, is it still usable in manual mode (though most posts I've read say it is). Thanks.

I havn't tried it, but it looks quite simple.

Disassemble it and simply remove the spring. But then you turn it into a flickable knife that is illegal in a lot of places.

If I take away the spring, my Heat becomes illegal here. Weird.

I think you should try it, and if it doesn't work, just put the spring back.

Hmm... hopefully the screws won't loosen after I loosen them

Wich screws?

The one on the handle?
- I disassembled/reassembled mine and no problem with them.

The pivot?
- Use loctite. I actually think there already was some in the pivot.

Maybe yes, maybe no.

Better not take any chances. If you use some, you will be sure the pivot will keep the same "tightness level" (my English has its limits, sorry). Most of the people on the balisong forum prefer to use the blue loctite.

Ive taken all the springs out of mine and they work just like a reg. liner-lock knife. These are good knives IMHO.

second the BLUE loctite.

I havn't tried using my heat without the spring, but I have disasembled it for cleaning and it still works great. This has been one of the most reliable knives I have owned. I just wish I could have gotten a Dominator.
