I recently received a large Micarta Insingo via trade, and realized while driving and fondling it this evening that the handle is smooth. I have a small Micarta Insingo that is bead blasted, and a small Insingo without inlays that I scotch brited. The newer large has the scotch brited feel, but I know that can't be because it was offered for trade as mint.
I searched the forum and looked around at all the usual online retailers, and all I can find are bead blasted Micarta Insingos. Has anyone ever purchased one new without the bead blasted finish, or was this knife not quite as mint as advertised?
I actually prefer the smoother finish over the bead blasted finish, not complaining about that. I'm just curious as to whether "mint" now includes mods like scotch briting. ;)

CRKs only come in blasted and satin afaik, so if it's not satin, it's a modified blasted.

I had that happen also. I purchased a CRK on the forum that wasn't advertised as scotchbrited, but it clearly was when I got it in hand. Like you, though, I liked the finish and kept it :p

edit: I take that back. The Ti-lock comes stonewashed. Other than that, CRKs just sandblasted and satin from the factory.

Most people that mod their scales will advertise so when selling.

Maybe the person you traded with got it and didn't know or perhaps forgot?

It's good you dig it, but that's not mint:D
