OK I've been selling a lot if stuff recently and I need something to keep me from having separation anxiety. I was considering:

1. Small micarta insingo
2. Small plain insingo
3. Large micarta tanto

I had a large micarta insingo and it was nice but I think the large insingo blade was a little odd for me.

I also prefer the plain over micarta on the large sebenza but the jury is out on the smalls.. What do people perfer small micarta or plain Jane in the small variety.

The tanto is a sick looking blade and i would use it a lot but how useful is it really?

Now this will be an EDC-er.. I have no problem carrying a large sebenza for and EDC. I actually prefer it but it is time for a small. The tanto has to be a large, I don't think I'd like it in a small.

Just looking for some insight from the CRK family. I thanks as always guys!

I've had smalls in plain and micarta. I am loving the micarta (curses, it makes me want to try other inlays which otherwise were uninteresting to me except on the Mnandi!). Plain was classy and minimal, but the micarta adds some fun but still keeping it clean and simple.

I'd go micarta over plain, but it seems like there's no small number that go the other way.

I have the large and the small Micarta Insingo. I carry the small to work where others might be a little more paranoid and the large everywhere else. The small is almost perfect for any situation I run into though so I chose that one!

Im confused you say you prefer the plain over the micarta on large Sebs but your looking at a large with micarta scales.

Voted for Small Micarta Insingo. Practical, comfy and cool. Don't forget to order with silver hardware and double thumbstuds.

I voted Small Micarta Insingo. I realy like the Micarta's.

I'm not a fan of the Tanto at all.

^^^ I agree with him, I don't like the tango shape at all. I just got a large micarta insingo, but its a little large for work carry. If I could only get one I would go small micarta, it will take care of just about any task you have

I might be in the minority but I am a bigger fan of the "plain jane" minimalistic look over the micarta. I think it just looks tougher and sleeker in one. I also think the small insingo blade is awesome.

I don't think you're in a small minority. Look at the micarta vs plain threads. You have an army of support. ;)

On the smalls, I definitely like the inlaid better than plain. For a user, micarta is the way to go - it just makes the little knife feel more secure in hand, and gives your fingers something to bite on when opening with the thumb stud. However, on the large (21, 25, Umnumzaan) knives I prefer plain, but if they are inlaid I like micarta the best.

Also, I have a small micarta tanto, and it's actually an awesome office EDC; much more useful than I thought it would be. I'll have to pick up a large to compare, but I have no problem recommending the small tanto.

If you didn't care for the large insingo, I don't think you would like the small either. I only say this because I love the large and small versions, and it's such an odd duck that you either like it or you don't. I happen to like both very much.

Actually, not on your list, but if you're hankerin for something great to take the edge off - go get a small micarta damascus. I'm thoroughly impressed with the CRK damascus - it takes one screaming sharp edge!

Regardless of what you end up with, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it!!

Interesting points so far. I agree with onesppfrk; in the small version I like something thicker for better purchase in hand, and in my opinion I don't think the large needs the extra help. So i like the idea of smalls with the micarta. I had a small inlay that i regret selling! Then again I like bigger knives.

I know I will like the tanto. I think the grind looks awesome, I will definitely have to try it eventually. The reason I would go with micarta there is basically variety. I have a lot of plains and wood inlays and not much micarta so...that should clear that up KP.

Thanks for the input thus far. I guess what it comes down to is do I want a small or stick with the large. I have several, too many actually, large sebbies. I have had two smalls in the past but currently have none. I will most likely own both evtually bc I love CRK and I want to try both styles but the real questions is what should be the NEXT CRK?

Haha this is fun...

edit: I think I made this comment in the wrong thread. Answer made no sense to me, and I wrote it. Oops.

My opinion as well. I picked the exact same model and options recently and love it!

I just saw a video of a sebenza with a tanto blade and it's hard to ignore.. Sharpening could be a bit of an issue, although I'm decent with my Whetstone.. Any thoughts and keeping that grind the same one the tips of those tantos? Easy, hard?
