How do you guys feel about a thread for non fiddleback materials to sell or trade? It can be anything. I, for one, am looking for some outdoor gear like a tent or hammock. Of course, we can also load this thread up with some non fiddleback knives.
If the mods don't approve I will gladly remove it.
I figure since we have done a lot of business with each other, it would be a good way to buy things from people we know and trust.
Again, if anyone objects, I will gladly remove it.

I agree with this for two reasons...

1. Because I have stuff I would love to magically transform into fiddleback goodness.

2. I have stuff I would like to get and to get rid of that may not be fiddleback stuff that I would prefer to trade with the people in this subforum.

This is my 2 cents thank you!

Removed, though I am irritated to do so. People sell other items on here constantly. People market and sell their own sheaths for their own profit and they are not fiddleback branded items either. I thought it was a nice idea, maybe I'll make a private Facebook page or something that those of us who wish to participate in can use.

I would suggest using the blade forum classifieds section for "gadgets and gear" for stuff that Non - Fiddleback knife related. In the least it reaches a wider audience.

I understand and respect your point. Reaching this "smaller" and known audience is the benefit of this thread. I've had some bad experiences both selling and buying from some people. Thought it may be nice to target this great group of like minded folks. If it becomes a problem, ill take it down.

I agree with officer Bonafide. This subforum is for Fiddlebacks and for Andy to make a living. I'd hate to abuse it.

However, like the rest of you guys, it is nice to find a group of honest people. :)

I certainly don't want to interfere with Andy's well being. Fiddlebacks are not excluded from this thread, but instead of trading fiddlebacks for fiddlebacks I thought we could trade them for other things as well. I don't see it taking any more money from Andy than us trading knife for knife instead of buying from him directly.
Could we put it to a vote or is there someone who can make the best decision for us? Should I ask Andy?

He's not the only person selling non-fiddleback things in this sub-forum. I've seen people list non-fiddleback knives in this sub-forum and if you wanted to buy, you had to click on a link to another knife related forum. Now that seemed more inappropriate than this. Emoney's is trying to unload one knife. I don't know, seems okay to me. However I thought this thread was more for non-knife type stuff: camp stoves, flashlights, outdoor gear etc...

It's for any and everything, I just happen to have a knife I'm willing to part ways with because I'm a knife nut. We can do camping stuff, guitar stuff, gear, whatever we want to unload....ultimately to get more Fiddlebacks to be honest.

I agree with Bonafide and schmittie.

Spark provides many areas on his forum for us to buy, sell and trade all kinds of gadgets, gear and other makers knives. And there are a lot of great people in those areas as well.

This is Andy's sub-forum for Fiddleback Forge knives. He pays for this wonderful area for us to view and enjoy his creations. I don't believe we should muddle it with other stuff.

I would suggest you ask one the sub forum moderators or super moderator. Voting on it might just be a waste of effort if it violates forum rules. Just saying.

I'd just rather see my stuff go to good people. That's all this really boils down to as my M.O. There's a million ways to look at it and it's easy to find negatives. We are all consumers of goods, we all love Fiddlebacks. There's nothing that I, or anyone else on this forum could say or show that could make any of us feel otherwise. It's not to promote other knife makers over Andy in any way. I've never met Andy, but I've seen some interviews with him, he seems like a pretty laid back and down to earth guy. He has a knife and outdoor addiction, that's why he chose this profession and craft. I don't want to assume I know how he feels but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy that who believes his show is the only show in town. I'm sure he has other makers work that he enjoys as well, and I don't think he would mind if we discussed other makers. Most of the greatest athletes are honored when you mention them along side other greats, I think that's how he would feel. We are all lovers of knives, we are all pretty educated about knives, we all know several other knife makers, and still we gather here under Andy's umbrella. Our love for Andy isn't going anywhere, and neither is our money.

All have made very good points so far, and I admit, I do not know the etiquettes or policies of BF.

Lol, if I knew how to do that I would. I'm a novice, this is the only forum I have ever belonged to.

Ask a mod. Honestly, you payed money for your gold subscription, you have contributed money to this website, you have a choice to post what you want, just as long as it is approved and blessed by the mods. Just like you have a choice to post, members have a choice not to visit your thread. If Andy or any of the mods don't seem to mind, why should you? You'll never satisfy everybody on this forum, someone will always have something to say, good or bad. As long as you follow the forums rules and you don't cause a fuss with the mods, you're golden in my book.

Click on a mods avatar or name, you'll either be taken to their home page or a list of options should pop up. Either way, click on the "personal message" option and respectfully and clearly ask your question. They are usually pretty good at answering you within 24hrs. Andy, not so much. He's very busy. Give him a little more time.

Thanks Joe, I have contacted a mod regarding this. Will await his response. I will also call the shop this week and attempt to talk to Andy about it. If I can't reach him I will message him. If Andy does not like the idea, the thread will be removed.

Okay another 2 cents....

I really only care about if Andy's okay with it. We all certainly wouldn't want to do anything to hurt our well loved and respected friends at Fiddleback Forge. The ONLY reason I would care about what the mods think is because they can shut us down.

I still think it's a good idea. However I do respect everyone's perspective and opinion expressed this far. ;)
