Non-glass reinforced sheaths, whats the status?

So whats the deal with them? Is Kabar 100% sending out Beckers with the Non-glass reinforced sheaths? Also how can we go about buying new ones?

I would love to replace my BK11 sheath with a non-glass one.
 
mmm, call KaBar and ask? :) probably the best way, unless they get around to visiting :)
 
Yeah, I didn't even know if they were doing that really, I called once looking for a second gen BK2 sheath and they didn't want to sell me one.
 
Yeah pretty pricey. Too bad they can't offer them at a more reasonable cost, realative to the cost of the knife. That's more than half the price of the knife and sheath... And if you're buying just the sheath, it probably means you've already bought the knife...
 
The new non glass filled sheaths are being phased in as the others are being phased out. Basically, the sheath change was made and now its business a usual.

Moose will there be an indication on the box, or a way to tell if we are purchasing a knife with the non-glass sheath?

that's WITH shipping vs without? i don't recall if tomar's has shipping charges or not.

ALSO, tomar and pretty much any [e]tailer is going to sell for less than msrp and probably has more attractive shippjng prices to boot.

so, whatcha do is buy 10 and split the shipping...
 
I checked on tomar's site 13.90 + 6.00 shipping. 19.90 to your door, of course that's the glass version.

I do realize that Manufacturer's cannot undersell their retailers. I would prefer to conserve some cash and buy from a retailer.

Hmmm. Maybe I will call Tomar's and request the new no-glass sheath and see what he can get.


On an unrelated note, Tomar's shopping carts last forever, there was still a BK5 in there from months ago...very tempted...

Not really. They are not marking the boxes, and as far as I can tell, I can only find it on the packing slip.

Now. Its a done deal. No more glass sheaths, according to Kabar. All new knives are sheathed in plain old injected plastic. You will still find them at dealers and other places, but they seem to have fixed it.
