Non - lethal equalizers

Hello again. I know this is where people get crazy about knives but... what is everybody's favorite non-lethal self defense equalizer? I have been looking into this based on my recent change in mindset. This is having to do with what happened after 911 and what a person can carry as an innocuous and non-suspicious. So far, I have obtained myself a DTL Impact Kerambit and Comtech Stinger. Will be doing some more training once I am over my bronchitis. I am looking at getting a Laci Szabo Water Lily Massager ( Silat Hook ) and experimenting with that with the Silat and Taiji I have learned. The premise is the less it will arouse suspicion the better. Anybody else have specific ones they like to carry? Just curious.

One of those expandable batons? I don't have one but a buddy of mine does and it seems like a good non-lethal defense equalizer.

I agree with Goosebumps! An ASP baton is my ideal weapon but it is not something I would normally carry but rather keep in my car. I do carry a "Point Grip Kubaton" as my key chain. This close quarter tool is not only ideal for punching but the point when using punyos will inflict serious damage no matter where you strike. You can also swing it aggressively. The keys and whatever else is attached can offer some distance that you may need. Used properly, this is a formidable weapon.

Guro John,

What's a Point Grip kubotan?

Thanks,
Kelvin

Hi Kelvin,

Think of it as a 5" spike with a 1/2 diameter that has grooves for better gripping. Check out www.securityplanet.com under defense for a picture. It is the 2nd to last Kubaton.

John

i carry short stick in my back seat and my trunk, and i have them around my house under the bed, behind the door etc. all my friend know about it. when i was on the east coast i use to carry a cowhide glove we use to make in the philippines. its the same thing you give a dog, from the skin of a cow, but you put it in boiled water to soften it, but only enough so you can bend it to put around your knuckles. and then you let them dry. they will take the shape of your hand. if you are smart you can pinch little corners in them in front of your knuckles. now that i am thinking about maybe i can go to the pet store and make some more. but you can go in any club with them in your pockets because there not metal and its like a brass knuckels.

my mom puts some kind of hard glue that you melt, but she puts it on all her gloves at the fromt of the fist because she use to work at night. the glue will harden with a point if you drop it the right way.

That sounds like rawhide...yeah that would definitely do some damage...if it's anything like the rawhide dog bones.

Interesting... organic brass knuckle gloves. PVC pipe is really innocuous and cheap. You can cut it to any length you want and just leave it lying around. Most people do their own home renovations nowadays so there is a good excuse to leave that stuff just lying around.

:D

What's innocuous depends on where you are. Neither a stick nor a knife of any kind would be considered innocuous in many countries. I carry nothing and walk on the street at night with my car key sticking up between my fingers.
