Ok, call me crazy for making good use of fingernail polish and remover, but I like to think that everything is multi-purpose. :)

I got the idea from seeing a fella adorn his Glock's rollmarks with nail polish on YouTube as I've done with my 34 and 26 here:

If you're curious about the durability of the mod, I've put easily 8k rounds through the 34 since doing it (1-2 cadence with a hot slide did not cause it to flake out). The red is more subtle, and I really like how the white turned out by itself on the 26.

You need some "extreme-" rated durable nail enamel (white is great, but orange would be kinda cool too IMO), but more importantly, you need the following types of non-acetone nail polish remover and isopropyl rubbing alcohol:

Step One: Use the rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) on a Q-tip to degrease the logo area and any other embossed areas on your ti slabs that you want to adorn. Let dry.

Step Two: Paint the areas with the nail enamel of your color choice. Let dry completely, as seen here:

Step Three: Use nail polish remover (non-acetone) on a paper towl and rub in circular motion over painted area, leaving paint only in the embossed areas like so and allow to dry. Freshen up nail polish remover on paper towel as needed and take off any smeared polish; allow to dry. It's very easy:

Step Four: Repeat Step Two, followed by Step Three as many times as needed to build up the nail enamel in the embossed areas. On my guns and knives, I like it to build up to the surface level of the handle or gun slide for maximum durability.

The finished product will look great, trust me. If you don't like it, want to remove it, or change the color, use your nail polish remover on a Q-tip and generously flood the embossed areas until it's out. Then wipe the surfaces down with a paper towel and more nail polish remover until everything's gone. Do not drink the nail polish remover, nail polish, or isopropyl alcohol by mistake when reaching for your drink. It can happen.

I would think this would be cool for those of you who have had CRK engrave your initials, etc. on your ti also. At any rate, it's durable and is a fun way to pass the time with your embossed equipment on a cold, rainy day like it is here today in Virginia. Try not to get in trouble with your Wife when appropriating the materials.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

cool idea, ive never thought of that. im thinking it might be cool if they have glow in the dark nail polish to do that. it would be sweet.

You can also use crayon for a less durable filler.

I read about that first and tried that on my Glock originally. It melted and flaked out over time which led me to the nail enamel, but crayon might work ok on a Seb's embossing.

Thanks for this! You just gave me an idea for fixing a Zippo lighter that is losing paint in an embossed area!

Wow, great idea. Thanks for this. I just asked my daughter and she has white and orange polish. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Why is it important to use "non acetone" remover?

it would be funny to do videos showing the responses from wives/gf's when asking for their nail polish and if they specifically had non-acetone remover. Ingenious idea, will have to bug the gf later as soon as i get my new one in.

That's just what the guy who painted the Glock slides on YouTube specified. Something about eating the Tenifer finish off. Not true with Seb's but I used non-acetone with great results all the same.

Professor, excellent idea. I have been doing the white nail polish on my S&W M&P .45s for a couple of years. It is amazing how well the white holds ups. Easy on and easy off :D I never thought about doing to my CRKs, so I will have to give it a shot.

I tried out one of the M&P's in 9mm the other day at the range. No wonder the Magpul guys love them so much. Great bore axis/grip configuration, and thinner grip than my Glocks. The long trigger takeup took a minute or two to get used to, but I shot with it every bit as well as with my G34. I want one!

I have done this on similar items before. I painted the sights on the bone stock 1911s the Army issued us in the 70s. For a knife, you may want to try putting down a coat of clear first. This helps to get the color out later if the machining is not very smooth. Perhaps not a problem on a CRK but the bead blasting is not exactly smooth.

I have problems with my nails getting thin and splitting, especially in the winter. Years ago I discovered Nail Defense and have used it since. Yes, that is right, I use nail polish. It beats having an involuntary, jerk reaction when catching a hang nail while reaching for that .45 on your hip or that big knife in your pocket.

I always knew having a wife would come in handy.:D

Thanx and a tip of the Hatlo Hat Professor
