I just discovered this was possible! A non spring assisted folder that opens completely using the flipper, no wrist whip, just the flipper!!! And amazingly I found this in an $11 Sanrenmu.

What other folders do this, please tell!!!

Thank you my friends!

Sorry for my bad English.

A few more off the side of my head.

Kershaw Zing, Skyline, Volt 3600, Groove, Ram, OD2.

Zero Tolerance 0770, 0600, 0801, 0200.

Part of it is knowing how to use the flipper correctly, which can vary depending on the knife. Most flippers I've owned can be opened with only the flipper without much thought or difficulty, but there are those that do it perfectly every time with no thought or "technique". Blades that fly out and are almost impossible not to open completely even if you try, such as the Spyderco Southard, ZT 0801, ZT 0600, Grimsmo Norseman, Kershaw Tilt, Todd Begg Bodega, and the best/easiest flipping knife I've ever owned, the Peter R. Keystone Flipper.

But for high quality low priced knife, a broken in and well tuned Kershaw Skyline will fly out pretty easily too.

This. Every non-assisted flipper (that wasn't way over-tightened) I have ever tried could be opened completely without needing wrists... just a matter of technique.

what technique? i'm just pulling back on the flipper with one finger and it's opening, in any angle, upside down, sideways, reverse cowgirl etc.

This is going by what I've experienced. After getting use to these flippers, I don't like Speed Safe anymore.

ZT/Kershaw: 0560, 0454, 0801, Chill, Zing
Spyderco: Southard Flipper, Domino
Fox: FX 302
Microtech: Mini Matrix, Doc flipper, Whaleshark
Hinderer: XM-18 (if you do it that particular way)
CRKT: M16, M21... actually a good bit of CRKT are nice flippers
Camillus: Cuda Maxx

That's the problem. That's often called the "lightswitch" method, where you just pull straight back. It's usually not nearly as effective unless the knife is really smooth and has a good, strong detent. Most knives will fly out with much more authority if you press the flipper straight down into the handle like a button. You just push the flipper like a button in towards the pivot. This lets you store up a lot more potential energy before the detent is broken and the blade comes out.

I haven't tried the technique above me, but I'm perfectly fine just giving my hand an almost imperceptible shake and I flip the knife open, and that carries it all the way. I don't even notice I'm doing it. Vibration technique haha.

Those black dlc tanto Zings that KershawGuy has are a serious steal. Really makes me want an RJ Martin custom; the ergos are ridiculously comfortable.

Also, don't forget the ZT 0200. Because of the heavy blade it consistently snaps open with just the flipper.

Yeah. The Kershaw Zing Tanto is really great. It's kind of a shame that the design is all tacticool. Makes me not want to carry it as much.

My Edelman flipper opens like an auto! I don't have any other flippers, I had a benchmade 300 and it annoyed me that it had to be pointed down to open all the way without a lot of wrist.

Just picked up a ripple- my first IKBS folder- and now I feel the need to start leaning my collection towards more of them.

My zt0350 is de-assisted and highly tuned with polished internals and good lube. Flips open effortlessly, but the ikbs knives I've handled are still on another level!

I've got three non-assisted flippers that I use fairly often and like a lot. Two Kershaws (Junkyard Dog and Lahar) and a ZT (561).

The ZT is the fanciest, very well made, with some nifty features.

The Junkyard Dog has a very useful blade and the composite 12C27/CPM D2 looks awesome, but it's not as smooth as some of my other knives. However, my main gripe about it is the ridiculous pocket clip.

I think the Lahar has been discontinued, but you can probably find one if you look around. I feel that it's a very underrated Kershaw. VG-10 steel, G-10 handles and very smooth deployment (both with the flipper or thumbstuds). I payed under $60 for mine, a great knife for the price.
