Sorry, wrong area -trying to move to knifemakers forum.

I made my first pair of non stabilized amboyna burl. They look absolutely gorgeous but notice a small natural crack in the handle.

I've finished in 3 coats of Tung Oil Finish followed by Tom's Military Wax.

Can you give me a prediction on the fate of these handles for collector, general and/or bushcraft use?

Thanks,
Marathonman

Nice looking grips

This isn't my opinion, but, a custom maker I have bought from in the past told me he is always a bit leary of Aboynia because in his experience he has had problems with it shrinking more often than other woods, even if well dried.

Just passing along his comment. I have very little experience with Amboynia.

If that is the case, then there is a chance your grips may shrink and crack more. I hope not, they look so nice I would hate to see them fail.
