Gus -

I'm still in Florida, so I've yet to see my new baby.

Your picture does, however, bring to mind three words:

OH MY GOD!

Brian,

The blade and the bolsters on this puppy are awesome. You have quite a nice knife waiting for you when you get home

Have not talked to Ralph yet, but Blues did.
Last he heard, Ralph may have a couple of these that people had to back out on.

If anyone is interested email me and I will put you in touch with him.

Gus

Man, if that scan doesn't do the knife justice, it scares me a little

!!
It looks pretty damn nice on my screen, you guys have some beautiful stuff there, Mr Turnbull has done one heck of a job. BTW, please explain the "non-tkc-l" in the thread header. I think I can partly guess, but I'd like to know for sure.TIA

Okay, here goes. The knife collector's list is a fraternal order and school of mysticism whose aim and purpose is to offer a system of study to people who have felt an urge from within to consciously advance themselves along the path of spiritual evolution... OOPS, those are the Rosicrucians.. the tkc-l are just a bunch of knife junkies like me with a heavy concentration of custom knife makers.

They decided to annually make a knife project. These are REALLY COOL; see http://is.dal.ca/~totalgsd/tkc-l/projects.html?92,14 for example.

In any event, at an early stage of discussing these projects Ralph Turnbull proposed a knife design and said he'd be willing to make them... and the volunteers poured in rapidly. So rapidly, that when the tkc-l list owners explained that the process was not going to be strictly "here's a design, I'll do it" but more of a discussion/evaluation and selection sort of process... well, by that time Ralph had plenty of takers and the "non-tkc-l" knife had a life of its own. Fortunately, these guys don't take themselves too seriously and most were all too glad to get another shot at a custom knife. Shoot, the few Rosicrucian friends I have don't take themselves as seriously as youmight first think and a couple of them appreciate the finer sharp objects... other than that you might be surprised how deficient they are in the knowledge of Damascus steel patterns, file working, anodized titanium and so forth. What kind of spiritual evolution can they get without knowing this stuff? I guess that is a subject for another topic.
The other 1998 projects are also really cool

and represent huge bargains compared to the makers typical costs for such a knife.

Anyway, that is that... more or less.

Mega dittoes on this one. And remember, you can get a "once daily" summary of all the emails in digest form instead of 10-40 emails a day.
