Noob help

Scrapyard 154cm I know it's a type of steel but to what quality... no clue

Looks to me like a Scrap Yard Mud Puppy, Combat Grade.

It's not a blade that will win beauty prizes.

But it’s a damned tough, damned useful knife.

With, even better, a hand-friendly Res-C grip.

154CM is a stainless you see in many knives. Lots of folders are made of 154CM.

Yeah what was I thinking, the HC is from The Swamp, that is a Yard Mud Puppy of course and a great blade. 154cm is a stainless steel as pointed out so will be fine stripped.

This Blade Steel 154cm as pointed out has been around for many years. It was inspired by the Legendary Bob Loveless as the better alternative to Hitachi ATS-34 both excellent steels of their time. Before the BOOM of the new super stainless steels this was the benchmark but is still in use and reasonable price make it an excellent choice.

There were some pretty amazing toughness tests posted when these were released. I don't remember if it was here or over at the yard. It might have even been at the swamp.

If you like it, around the same time also released the bird dog, weiner dog, and scrap muk with the same mudder handles and 154CM. The swamp had a full tang edc, the hairy carry.

Since then, we have seen a line of ScrapMax, with Elmax blades, and what I would call the Wardog handle.

These all have special Busse heat treatment.
