Hi,
I've got a few Schrade knives, but I recently aquired this one by luck. I bought a backpack at an estate sale + this was in the bottom pocket.when I went through it to clean it up.
Through researching it appears to be a parachute knife.
I've seen some others on the internet. Very similar.
Has an orange handle.
I am wondering ? Did they make (Chinese or others)Knockoffs of this item?
The push button that opens the knife is obvious, what does the slide switch below it do?
On the knife blade is:
Schrade
Walden
NY USA the NY Usa is almost hidden in the body of the knife.
on the other side it says Stainless.
I'm not quite sure how to post images, any help there?
Post them to my FLIKR account?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Jim M

Jim,
I can help regarding the posting of pics. On my photobucket account there is an "IMG" link. See if your Flicker has that. If it does, copy and paste that into your post.

HOW COME I CAN NEVER GET LUCKY LIKE THAT. YOU GOT A GREAT FIND THERE BUDDY. DOES IT WORK GOOD STILL. THAT LITTLE SLIDING LEVER YOUR TALKING ABOUT IS A LOCK SO THE BLADE DOSN'T OPEN UP IN YOUR POCKET.

Wannacollect,
RE the sliding lever, why does that make too much sense???
Yes you know the old story about the blind squirrel --------
It does work well strong spring + all. The blade does have some play-a little loose. I think I saw a post that addressed how to fix that on here somewhere.
I would still like some verification of real vs fake. I noticed one in the whats your latest find post. Where it says NY USA on that one is more discernable on the blade shank.

these were made up until 1958 when U.S. Air Force(?) changed the specs, thus replacing this knife. quite collectible if in v. good condition.

Based on the pics, I'd say it is legit...

Nice piece.
