My name is mike and I am not looking to get into knife making, but I am looking to make a couple of knives.
But where to start!!!!???
I have 1 million questions and I guess I will start now.
I have found Damascus suppliers, I love the look of Damascus.
I am a machinist by trade so I can draw one up and make a program for it and cut it on my CNC machines.
Now it's the finishing the knife.
I am looking for a folder, but I think it might be a little ambitious for a first time and a fixed blade might be easier.
My main concern is sharpening.
I am an amature student of edged tools.
I really like the edge that the Japanese put on their samurai sword and I would like to put that edge on the knifes I make.
Is that possible?
How easy is it to machine Damascus?
How do you get the best finish, look, of Damascus?
Handle, how do I get the grips to stay without looking crappy?
Any guidance would be great!!!
Would it be better for me to cut my blades and source out the finish?
