I am interested in purchasing my first Busse knife but am new to the ways of becoming a hog. After reading the stickies and browsing around this forum and the Busse site, I'm still a little foggy on how to purchase a knife from the Custom Shop.

I absolutely LOVE the 'Bushwacker Bowie' mentioned in this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=763530

I also love the apparently one of a kind Bluegrass Bowie I saw in another thread.

How do I go about starting my collection with a knife like this? Do you just have to get lucky at a show or are these available for ordering?

Any advice is appreciated.

That was a one of a kind, good luck prying that from his hoof=)
Usually when you are looking for Custom Shop knives, you have to either make it to a show, win a ganza or find one on the exchange. Welcome and good luck with your search.

Post a wanted to buy for the Blue Grass Bowie, it may be worth a try but you'll never get it. ;) I think we have a custom ganzaa in our future. :)

I wouldn't trouble yourself with becoming a Hog. It may or may not happen. Its not required, in order to have fun around here, meet and talk to some of the most genuinely nice people you'll meet online (and in person) and scoring awesome knives.

The best way to get any Busse knife is to just hang around here frequently. You really have to have your thumb on the pulse to catch unique knives, being that they're not offered off the shelf like many production knives.

For something extremely custom, you either have to score it at a knife show, search threads for its owner, or troll the exchange forum for its most recent owner and then hound him/her for it.

Usually before a big show, Jerry will post a thread with some examples of what will be there, customs included, but not everything shows up in photos.

Other times Busse (Jerry) will have an extravaGanza (or ganza) sale of knives here on Blade forums. The time and date will be announced, and usually the knives and prices will follow. Cool customs can show up there too. They are a first come (email) first serve type of sale where you email the shop as soon as the "GO" time is posted with what you want out of what is offered in that particular Ganza. When they sort through the emails, they determine who asked for what, first.

Basically you have to hang around here and be in the know.

Yes, you can post a WTB for the Bluegrass Bowie but I ain't selling so don't expect a response ;)

In order to get these great custom pieces it requires some time, and patience. I've owned the BGB for a number of years, I was in the right place at the right time. That is often how it works.

You can also contact the custom shop for info on ordering a custom piece, however, if I were you I'd just try to go to as many shows that Busse is attending as possible. This is your best bet to pick up a great custom

Good luck and you have great taste ;)

If you can wait, there's an Indy 1500 at the end of August, Mike is usually there so if you can wait that long, you can see what he has.

:thumbup:Send me $20.00, I will give you the inside scoop. These guys are laying smoke screens...

Welcome. :)
Do the right thing always, and you might become a HOG.

Lies, Lies I say. You have to trample and rend. If your sweet old granny is in between you and a custom shop piece one of a king knife, you better be willing to knock granny down, and walk across her old arthritic back to get that knife.

Trickery, Deceit and Subterfuge are all the tools of a Hog. You must sharpen these and hone them until your cloven hooves are as sharp as the knives you seek:thumbdn:

Now that's the truth, no trickery there.

Blade was ferocious.
