Hey guys were do you think would be the best place to get steel. my birthdays comin up so i gotta find a place to spend some of my money. im thinking like 154cm, o1 , or w2. thanks in advance!!

Yup.... Aldo Bruno!

E-mail and internet orders are second best... It's best to call him and order it directly. Also, if you plan on making a few over time, it'll save you to order more at once...

Aldo? Aldo, Aldo, Aldo! That is all I ever hear around here. He's a piece of work that guy. I don't know about him.

That right there is probably the worst thing you might hear about him. He really is one of the good guys. Very easy to deal with. But it's true, I don't know about him lol.

Aldo's a character, that said I'll vouch for his character. I have been buying steel from him since he started, now he's the only supplier I will buy steel from. He has CPM 154, he has O-1 He has W2. Sometimes his website is a little wonky, if it is, send him an email or call him. Sometimes he takes a few days to get back to you, that is usually because he is at a hammer-in making knives. He is not some huge corporation that sells steel to industry and occasionally sells to knifemakers, he is a knifemaker that got into the steel business because nobody was taking care of the knifemakers, and he developed the connections to get what we need (sometimes he actually has special batches of steel made specifically for knifemaking.

Rail Rider, I'll see you Wed.

Page,.....you never sent a picture of those kitchen knives

Bill, how are those cleavers going?

Guy's, thanks again!

Did anybody say Aldo yet?

Kelly Cupples is often recommended as well. I've bought nearly 100ft of 1080 bar stock from him over the last 3 years.

Jason,
I'll give you a bit of Aldo's 1084 and you won't be ordering from Kelley any more. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have the 1080, but there is a big difference in the two. There isn't ANY scale on Aldo's 1084 and quite a bit on the steel I have from Kelley
Jason

Thanks, Jason. I've got one bar of Aldo's 1084 in 3/16 x 2". Bigger than any knife I want to make, bought it for an order that fell through. Be glad to swap you.

Stay away from that character Aldo, every time I call him with the intent of just ordering one bar we get to carrying on and I am into him for at least five times more steel.
Never any regrets though, you can't have too much good steel IMO.
