I am looking to by a knife as a birthday present for my brother. After looking at a number of knives I have decided on a SOG Vision. But I also have the option of buying a NightVision for the same price. Now I understand why someone would want a titanium handle, but what is so special about G10?

TIA for your help.

Sewerurchin, nice name :D , I have both of the knives you mentioned, I am pretty sure the night vision is discontinued, but there are probably a few still around to buy.
The G 10, night vision is my EDC for about 2 years or more. I love it because it is Tough, strong, and fast to open and close, complete one hand operation once you get used to the arc lock. One flick of the thumbstud and it's open, then pull back on the arc lock, (same hand) and it's closed.
The Titanium handled Vision is a "Classy", tough, strong and very fast to open and close. The truth of the matter is I carry the Night Vision because of the black G 10 handles, it is less likely to be seen, especially since I carry it in a sideways quickdraw sheath that is black. If my shirt comes up in front, you really don't notice the all black hardware.
The Vision is in a class all by itself. Very sleek handles, and I think would be as good or better than the G 10 handles, again, I choose black, and you can't tell I have ever carried this one because the G 10 is so tough, it would take a lot to scratch it. But the Titanium I think might show some surface scratches by now, but very classy scratches :D . Hope this helps.

What Robbie said... ;)
...BUT... one BIG advantage of G-10 over the Ti is grip! G-10 won't slip, and is still "grippy" when wet...
I too had both, but kept the Night Vision...

Liners are "jewelled" and coated too, as is the clip. I sent you a close-up...
Still hoping for gold (or rainbow) TiNi hardware... :D
