How would something like a Tali-whacker compare to a scrapyard 711? I don't really know the pros and cons of their different blade styles. Also how much better does chopping and wood cutting become with something like a 911?

Taliwhacker is a good deal lighter than 711 so it will not chop as well.
911 is heavier than 711, additional length will also aid in chopping and battoning. If you're after a chopper go for 911(or Rodent 9), if you're after a camp knife that can do most of what you need a knife for go for 711 (Rodent 7).

Exactly Bro!!! The Tali is a lot to light in the shorts to take on a chopping job. It's a great knife and as soon as the CG's hit the market I'm going to be OWNING ONE or TWO:D. But for chopping the 7's, 9's, and one of my favorites of the most current productions is the Scrap Yard model 1311. It is the same thickness as the Tali but WAY bigger/longer. # for # one of the best to come out in a while. It is also made of SR-101...

Hi Dubins, to what Russ and Elof said. Only thing I can add would be I've seen some pics of 1111's which I believe should be between the the size of the 911 and 1311 but Ive heard that its even thicker. around 1/4 inch thick vs 3/16 thick. Like Elof said 711 for a great all arounder but if ya want a good chopper/batoning blade go bigger.

Only thing with getting a 1111 is it just came out at Blade show this year and whos to say when it would become a regular offering at Scrapyard so it may be harder to find one of those vs going with a 911 which is a current offering.

I was lucky enough to score a 1311 on the exchange here and it was worth every penny its one heck of a chopper. Good luck with your choices you cant go wrong!

I went to the scrapyard site but the ordering page isn't working... Can I not just order a new 911 from them?

There are some IT changes being done to the Yard site, they should be sorted in the next few days. Just check it daily, it soon will be possible to order.
