ok so why does ESEE use the hard plastic sheaths on some knives and kydex on others? is kydex more expensive or is there something that im just not picking up on? and i notice that some knive websites incorrectly (i assume) say that like the ESSE-6 comes with a kydex sheath, it didn't say it was after market or anything... :jerk it:

the injection molded thermoplastic sheaths are a much more expensive item to set up for than kydex. the izula, 3 and 6 were designed first and they went with the plastic sheaths, the military also prefers thermoplastic. kydex tends to loose its retention in extreme heat and break in extreme cold.

but lots of people want kydex so they set up for some of the other knives.

take it easy
