Noob to axes with probably silly question =)

Hi all!

My name is Rachel and first of all I wanted to say hi! I just bought an Collins axe head. In measuring the eye in order to purchase the appropriate axe handle I realized that the top eye is a little larger than the bottom hole. the eye opening at the bottom of the axe is almost exactly 13/16 of an inch at its wider point. The top part of the opening is 14/16. My understanding was that the bottom hole was supposed to be slightly smaller that the top opening. Sorry if I butchered the lingo, I'm sure I did, and sorry for asking probably on of the dumbest questions in this forum =(

I may have had too much to drink but reading your post you say that the top is 14/16 and the bottom is 13/16. That would mean that the bottom is slightly smaller than the bottom. Once again I have had a couple of beers so I may be reading that wrong but...
 
The way you've written it, the bottom hole is slightly smaller than the top. Which is as it should be.
 
Yeah, the top of the eye should be larger than the bottom. When you wedge the eye the top of the haft becomes too big to slip out the bottom of the eye. That's what holds it in place.

No problem. I just thought that my beer was super strong. It's Terrapin Hopsecutioner, so I thought it might have been working against me. Glad you got it sorted out.

reading your post, I'd say that, yes, you have had too much to drink :p
