Hi everyone. Like the title says... I'm a newbie here and I'd like to ask you more knowledgeable knife savvy individuals a couple of questions.

I'm not a knife collector... but I'm thinking (have not made up my mind yet) about selling a couple of knives I have. I'd like to ask you folks for a ballpark estimate on what I should ask for the selling price.

First - I have a Beck WSK (Wilderness Survival Knife) #573. I don't think Mr. Beck is making knives anymore (please correct me if I'm wrong). I have used the knife so it isn't in perfect condition... stained a little bit. The sheath has a pocket stitched on it that I use for holding my smaller utility knife (a Victorinox Rucksack folder) and a knife sharpener.

Second - I've got a Benchmade McHenry & Williams 710 PlainEdge AXIS Folder. It has also been used. On the blade it has "First Production Run - 1 of 1000".

Any pricing ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks,
Warren

as much as i want to believe somebody that knows little about knife prices has a 1st production run BM710, i am having a hard time doing so.

LOL, JP.

I had read about the knife on Equipped to Survive, found it about a week later in a shop that deals in military & law enforcement equipment. I bought it on the spot having no idea of what it said on the blade.

Not too surprising really since they were sold as regular knives, same price as any other benchmade 710 through normal retail channels. I doubt you'd get much more than MSRP for it even if it's in perfect condition.

I didn't know if the 710, being a first production run, would make it worth more or not.

What about the WSK?

What does the blade say on the 710? Is it an ATS-34 one, or the more $$$ M2 version?

For ATS-34, I'd guess its worth about $10-20 more than a current production D2 model. For the M2 version, I'd guess 200-250% more.

edit---sorry if I wasn't clear.

You stated that it is used.

ATS-34 710s aren't exactly rare, even nib ones regularly show up on ebay. They usually sell for SLIGHTLY more than D2, current production.

"First production run" knives can usually sell for a bit more, but that's assuming NIB with papers, etc---not used. It's difficult to put an exact $ on it without knowing the condition, but $10-20 more than a used, current D2 version in similar shape is my best guess. Good that you're keeping it, 710's are great knives.

If it was a nib 710 first run, etc, only the m2 steel version, you could probably trade it for a nib Sebenza.......

The blade has "ATS-34" on it.

I really like this knife so I doubt I can part ways with it.

As for the WSK Mr. Beck made for me - when I was just starting learning my camping/backpacking/survival skills. I thought it would be the perfect survival knife... hey, it was designed by Tom Brown, Jr! Now that I'm a lot better with those skills I realize that I don't need something that big & heavy. I'll more than likely post the WSK in the sales forum someday. I just want to get an idea of what to put on the sales tag.

It's the 1st of 1000 first production runs, probably more than what the average ATS34 version sells for

Put the Beck WSK up on Ebay if anyone wants it.

Just do a search for Beck WSK and you should find it.

Thanks for the assist on the 710 but I'm gonna keep it.
