NorCal Infi Collectors???

Hey guys, I'm new here for the most part. Have a few posts in various forums as I am not brand loyal. But I am wondering... I'm really wanting to get ahold of a piece of the magical INFI... I am in no way shape form or fashion a knife guru, a bladesmith, a metallurgy master or any other professional of edged tools.

I am however... very curious about INFI... I'd love to handle a piece and get ahold of one, but I don't know where to start on a VERY limited budget. I am sure most answers are.... YOU WON"T... :D Not able to play without some $$$ to back up the habit. Trust me I know this from motorcycling, paintballing, sky/scuba diving... and all those other "habits" of mine.

So what I am asking of you guys is this... Is there anyone near the Monterey Bay area that would be interested in showing me some pieces??? Let me fondle them and see if I like them. I have to say I don't see much in way of me carrying a fixed blade anytime soon... but that can change if I can find a way to carry one and one that don't get in my way more than I get to use it. I'm most interested in the smaller blades like the Game Wardens and the "Keys" Although the Keys are too small for my liking, I'm thinking if I can get one for cheap I'll use it as the test bed to see if I like the way the edge behaves.

What I am most interested in though I would have to say is getting a blade made out of infi for a folding knife that I love. The blade steel stock is fine, but I love the way the knife handles, holds and carries, so I would think that the best of both worlds would be a good compromise... I don't know what the chances of that are either, but I figure someone that knows will be able to shine some light on it... Basically what I would do is take the blade out of the knife, send it to Busse, and get 2 blades back... the original and the Infi. Or I could send the whole knife to them so that the fit and finish for their blade will be fully functional in the knife. Either way it won't do me any good to have a knife with no blade in it.

So with those questions/answers out there... Anyone have the info I am looking for??? Don't worry I won't become a threat to the collectors. No matter how much I like the steel. I only buy what I use and see no reason to have 10GW's 10 MOAB's 10 SHBM's etc... I just want a good EDC knife that will last with me and that I can trust and not have to worry about so much on how sharp it is, or how well it holds up. I REALLY LOVE the handles on the GW's ... The texture to them is simply beautiful. But anywho....

Anyone with info please let me know and if you would like to keep on the downlow then just email me.....

Thanx in advance guys,

DM

I'm originally from Roseville, CA, but unfortunately the Army wants me elsewhere or I would help you out personally. I don't know if they ever do Busse passarounds on here, but I think they should. A Game Warden passaround would be very popular. If you're not familiar with the concept, they mail a knife around the country and each participant handles it for a couple weeks before mailing it on. I'm not sure who to talk to to get one started, but it seems like a good idea.

yeah, i thought so too. i offered a scrapper 6 for passaround but had so few interested i decided not to do it.

infi passaround would be interesting.

Get a Skeleton Warden with a nice pouch sheath.

That could be carried in pocket very easily.

Busse probably wouldn't make a folder blade for you. He has a guarantee on everything he makes and I don't think he will make anything that he doesn't have 100% confidence in, especially folders.

With the popularity of Game Wardens lately, I can't imagine a lack of interest. A lottery-style would go over well too I think.

Yeah Cynic I saw your post that said you had a Busse on this side at the parents house... I have family over in Charlotte area where I lived a few years...

And Wash I understand Jerry's warranty... and believe me I fully appreciate it and what he does to stand behind his products. If it did get made I'd know well ahead of time that the BLADE is BUSSE... NOTHING ELSE.. not the pivot, the lock the handle... none of it... Also think that the price to get the blade made would be a major factor. Would probably come out cheaper to buy a MOAB than it would to get a small 3" blade made from INFI.

Anywho, I appreciate all that have spoken and hopefully there will be someone who pops up here sometime that will get me a bit more info. I most certainly would be up for the PassArounds. I'm finally at a spot now where I can get them without much hassle. For awhile I've been living on the road and so that makes the idea of me getting involved rather absurd.

Anyway thanx again for the help guys... Happy Oinkin!

I am from Salinas So I guess I could show you some of what I have. Are you part of the gun culture.....? I wonder if we know each other...

No JUSTABUYER I'm not with anyone out here yet... I have my guns, I have a few knives. And I have a motorcycle collection. :D As well as paintball gear. But I've only been here a few weeks now, and don't know much of anyone around. Hope to be working in a local bike shop or at the presidio by the end of the month. So just wading around the mess trying to figure out the maps lately.

I'm hoping to meet up with some riders and shooters out here when I get up and running. Right now I'm laying low on spending dough. Gotta get more coming in before I can start playing again.

I appreciate your offer and I'll send you a PM with my contact info.

Thanx,

DM
