I got 30 Lbs of 100 year old wrought iron a few weeks ago and decided to play around with it. The head is wrought and 9260 forge welded onto the edge. It was etched in FC and then 20% vinegar and then re-sanded with abrasive pads. I made the handle from oak and it has my last name carved on it in nordic runes. It was finished with five coats of cherry danish oil and steel wool rubbed. The grip is 8 oz leather "x" stitched with split leather lace and the guards are also etched wrought iron, pinned on with brass dome head nails.

I cold hammered the copper lanyard cincher to give it a fish scale look.

That is the first time I forge welded carbon steel to wrought iron. It is a tricky process. My first atempt cracked because the heat was too low. The wrought is so much softer then the 9260 is so you have to hammer very carefully and precisely.

I did not get a picture of the top, the grain swirl around the drift hole is very cool. It is the best proof that the hole was drifted and not drilled (cheating!).
