Stopped with the family in Solvang today on our road trip down to San Diego for a few days. Have always wanted to stop by Nordic Knives.
I was really impressed with the selection of custom pieces they had in stock:thumbup: Tons of fixed blades and folders by lots of quality makers. I told the wife and kids to check out the pastry shop and I sat there staring for quite a while. I have a couple of new customs waiting for me when I get home and SoCal isn't cheap for a family vacation, so I couldn't indulge in any new blades today, but I was glad to finally get down there and see what the shop is like. Staff was friendly, if not overly conversational. That could just be me, but when I meet fellow knife lovers I tend to ramble on
Their selection of factory knives was decent as well, including lots of fine kitchen cutlery:thumbup: I'll be honest though, pricing was typical of a tourist location on all the factory blades I looked at
ZDP Delicas for $130?! Pricing on customs was much more in line with current market values, so I have to respect that. I was sooooo tempted.
All in all, I'd say make a point of stopping by if you're looking for a custom blade, but stick to your regular online spots for factory items, as mark up is very high!
I'll get pics up of some of the customs a bit later.
