We are having a coastal Nor'easter here. The remnants of Ida are just off the coast. This morning the flooding was at 8 feet above normal high tide. Most places are closed. Winds, thank God, aren't too bad. 25-35 with gusts to 50. I'll be working inside today. Tonight and tomorrow morning's high tides are expected to be the worst since hurricane Isabel. Rain of about 8 inches expected.

I'm up the coast a bit inland from Ocean City MD and we're getting a good pounding along the coast. Near shore buoy reports are 20 feet and sustained winds are 48 mph with 60 mph gust and of course flooding in the low lying areas. Quite a bit of time the last few days adding lines and checking bilges in the marinas.

I just heard one guy interviewed on NPR who was striper fishing on the northern NJ coast. He said the waves were keeping the big ones in the inlets and he wanted to catch some.

I guess the hard core live everywhere...

Hello,
Just got power back on after 40 hours. I had no damage , the water came near the wood shop, but was not a threat. The generator kept the beer cold and some lights on, so no problems there. There was severe flooding in many places around here, and some big trees came down sporadicly. It will take a week or more to mop it all up, but so far as I know no one lost more than property.

With no power on Friday, I was unable to do much, so I lit the forge and hammered out three more hawks.....got to do something constructive with the time.
