anyone know where to get one? I think they can't be imported into the US anymore, but Canadian shops have them and they look great for the $$.

they can be found used before i came to china (2006) they were going for $350-400 when i saw them in pawnshops etc.

Try GunBroker or GunsAmerica. Since they are no longer being imported the only ones you'll be able to get will be pre-owned. Keep an eye open at gun shows and leave your number with the local shops so they can let you know if one comes in. I've been looking for one also.

yeah I checked but I guess I'll just have to keep a perpetual eye out.

I have a springfield that I added bells & whistles to, and an acquaintance brought his bone-stock 1911 Norinco to the range and it outshot mine. I was quite surprised!

Anyone know anything about how the new "Rock Island Armory Model 1911 A1 FS Tactical" would compare to the Norinco sport model?

The RIA seems a decent gun. I've shot the GI model and it was very accurate, on par with my old Kimber. I don't expect it to be as durable as a Norinco.
